@eatsrappers hell yeah! Read somewhere that some bullshit magazine had Tip as the only producer/rapper on their top beat-makers list. That means that for example RZA, J Dilla and Pete Rock are not on the list. And what kind of bullshit is that?
this my favorite beat konducta 1 and 2... the indian one i own but dont feel it at all!!! anyone feel me?? like some are hype but it just sounds like madlib went to india and tripped acid and made alot of noise. dont get me wrong

i couldn't agree with you more, this album was the 1st madlib I heard and i knew instantly that i would have a collection of beat konductas' growing for the rest of my life!
dooms beats are recognizable by the drums, a lot arent well polished warm and natural sounding like madlib like AS IF doom worked out of FL studio and madlib does it all on analog recordings
@tensorreaper666 they use the same things. but doom isnt all that good. he has some drums but the key to his beats are the samples he uses, they are hard to find. but he doesnt do anything to them. he finds a loop and puts it on the beat. its only occasional that he chopps something up. but madlib runs his beats through a roland sp 303. it has a vinyl effect witch desaturates the beat and brings up the lows while drowning the highs. but madlib has got chops and his vonyl is rare.
@Lucanio bruh even if you sampled from vinyl u wouldnt get that effect. he uses the 303 in most beats.i admit u do get static from vinyl but you dont get tone effects like that. what the 303 does is bring up low tonesand mix the highs into one mid range sound. the rest is just mastering finishes.
no disrespect to you sir. by all means:) i got to spend some time with the dude i got a chance to study basicswhich is some portable turntable out>MPC2500(orSp1200)>SP303>MIXER =HIGHLAND PARK!!!
@OLdSCHOOLRAdiOHEAd yeah q tip sampled it too but madlib flipped it better in my opinion. i think he visuallizes what he wants it to sound lik instead of trying to make it sound hip hop...you know? but it comes out sounding hip hop cuz hes got that ear like that
I agree they're all good producers. Also 9th Wonder and Kan Kick are both really good producers. You should also check out Edan, if you don't already know who he is. He's a good producer, DJ, and MC
oh yeah i heard an Edan remix few years back it was hot. 9th wonder's definitely in my top 20 (did you know he makes the beats for the boondocks show?), but i gotta check kan kick i never heard of the dude
*_I awake to an A-HA moment, I'm free from torment, I'm back and focused/ I peek thru the blinds to see the world anew, like how homie took the track and flipped it chopped and screwed/ it's like we took off in a rocket headed for Mars, but we messed up the controls and tried to follow the stars/ upset and apart, we're at the moon crash landing... Understanding discernment & wisdom/ what all 3 have in common? view 2 the Kingdom/ Come-now take a seat young grasshopper/ listen up while i brake u off somethin proper/ my raps full of fact & knowledge like proverbs/ please consider my words lyrical herbs/ (here some food 4 thought): yo- there's a saying that life=love & theres a thin line between love-hate/ so if freewill is real then 2 B a slave is fate/ do U consider yourself Free or Destine 2 BE? follow me Dont globalize me
I see it more as a equal playing field. Essentially, they're both loops for real. The thing in the q-tip beat that makes it shine is that bass guitar. The thing that makes madlibs shine is the the drums and the addition of the vocal sample
Madlib is a musical geunius.
i have bought a lot of his records, and he is definitley one of the best producers/musicians of all time.
He and Dilla are simply untouchable.
