im no expert (im a freerider from the praries) but something tells me its so if they crash or roll no damage will be done to the sled. i was once riding in Revelstoke BC and helped out a guy who had just crashed a sled with over 40 thousand invested into. he left the custom painted hood on and it was destroyed. there wasnt much to salvage from the sled.

@03blasteryfs yamaha is built to go in a straight line up the mountain, you never see a yamaha carving, and sidehilling, a skidoo goes up the mountain slower, but it gets there on harder, curvier lines.

That is funny! I have a nytro that was ready for the Irondog last year and weighed in wet @685 lbs. Todd's Arctic Cat weighed within 5 pounds of my overweight Nytro. And for your info, a stock f6 gets killed by a Nytro. The only thing the Cat has a little better balance in the air. A better race is with the M1000.

I wouldn't be too disappointed. the lightest yamaha sled weights 600lbs. the lightest doo is 435, and the cat is like 450. In the mountains, weight is everything. The lighter you are, the more maneuverable you are. And when you get stuck you dont have to fork $1000.00 over for a heli. Just wait for a 4 stroke doo.

I still would go for a Ski Doo Rev XP just because they weigh 335ibs and apex weighs over 500ibs lol, id take weight over power anyday when buying a sled. i have a 08 rev xp and my buddy has a apex turbo set at 11 pounds of boost, sure there fast but cant turn worth shit, and plus he put over 10 grand into modding the tunnel on it and making it alot lighter but still doesnt turn at all on a hill... Wel, horsepower dosen't mean everything. the torque of the yamaha has much more than the m1000 and he held the rpm and torque on the top all the time while the m1000 struggled to held it up.
