I want to know if this ever hit the charts and what # it got to ??? With all the new music out right now, I just found this oldie and I am in love with it. I would take this over any of the new crap out there today.....
Ok, here's the deal. Chances are, if you're on this page, you'll probably make a comment like "I love the 80s" or "the 80s were the best". And then someone else will comment that we're being stupid. The truth is, yes, all people like what they remember growing up with. It's biased. However, there is something more melodic and uplifting about 80s music. I really don't think the kids of today will be humming any of the new "tunes" in 30 years. The 80s keyboards and arrangements really worked
@MrChicago891 For those who were there, you had people back then say "the '50s and '60s were the best, today's (then '80s) sucked. And the same the generation before. But given this song was under the radar, it's a modern ("lost 45") as I just found this for my collection. The music video style is also very polished for its time.
Before taking the name GIANT STEPS they were known as The Quick, and did several albums for EPIC. One of my favorite bands from the 80s. Check out their album as The Quick called 'International Thing'...absolutely brilliant. You can find vids for The Quick here on YouTube. Try 'Missing You Now'.
i love this song..this is one of the very seldom songs that you hear now a days but when you hear it, you cant help but like it and want to listen to it again...the girl in the video is so pretty...is this group american?
harhar when I was in college in UP this was the title of the dance party promoted around campus with significantly large provocative posters in which a photo of a boy leans "into" a girl -- the song quite a hit then... harhar...
Yoiks! I remember buying this 45... I don't think the guys in "Giant Steps" were particuarly attractiuve, but I LOVED their voices... I suppose this means I'm into 80s music. I don't think it's "the best" like some people do, but it defintely music I grew of age on... (I'm 43 now...)
@icetemper I'm not sure if it was objectively better, or if it's something EVERYONE who was a teenager at whatever time it was says, since I've heard similar things like ("the 1940s were the best", "the 1950s were the best", "the 1960s were the best", "the 1970s were the best", "the 1990s were the best", and I'm sure people said "the 200s were the best", for all I know....
@shmuli9 your response reminded me of a comic strip where an adult was talking to a kid halfway buried walking through thick snow... and the dialogue box of the adult says, "when i was your age, snow was up to here!" (is hand on his chest), as the kid looks on to him in bewilderment lmaooooooo!!
I *JUST* discovered these guys like 20 mins ago while surfing for one hit wonders from the 80s..they sound incredible! Any chance you can upload the other songs..its not like we can rush out and buy this stuff any more...!
@andivoid ...you really think so? I always loved the remix! But when I wanted to hear the full instrumentation, I would go to the LP version.... I do wish there were more keyboards in the remix, like there are in the LP version....
This is a fantastic find. My wife and I are fans of the Book of Pride cd and it saddens me to think how many years have passed since this single was played on Atlanta radio. It is so refreshing to see that others outside of my world remember and cherish rare '80s tracks like this one. Thank you so much!
@bandsreunited ...hey there! Another Atlanta "Giant Steps" fan here! :-) You're so lucky to have the CD; that's quite a find! I do have all the 12" singles from the album, and also have quite a few other acts that Campsie and McFarland produced before Giant Steps. (I have about 5,000 records, at least 2/3 of which are 12" singles from the 80s. :-) .....originally from N. Cali, been in GA since 1991, currently in Alpharetta. What about y'all?

@icetemper Heh... Or the adult who says "When I was your age, I walked 10 miles to school, uphill in the snow - both ways!"
