When this video came out, Linux was still having trouble booting or installing let alone running on typical home machines. That's why there's not very much information here. And FreeBSD was in a much worse state. You had better luck running NetBSD on a DreamCast.
@Metal404Head no, but I did. It's almost pleasant to use... Graphical effects are great on just a 32MB Ati Radeon 7500. Haven't pushed it to any heavy computational tasks yet. Windows itself IS a heavy computational task, hehe.
@Metal404Head HELL YEAH I like graphical effects when they're ones that work efficiently on a 32MB card instead of something with 300% more VRAM, sure. My point was the efficiency, and being pleasantly surprised at the effects being so slick - not the fact that it was graphics - it was the last thing I did on the install, pretty much. I could make a comment on you missing the point like a broken link finds only a 404 error, but then again I understand your frustration with superficiality...
Been using Linux Ubuntu for over a year now and not once has it crashed and it was actually easier to understand than OS X and better running than Windows (although anything is better than windows). So I beg to differ, Linux is better, sure it has its cons like most games wont work on it (for now) but it definitely has more stability.

Google Chrome OS doesn't suck. It's an OS that's basic enough to prevent it from having problems all the time. There's also a pretty good chance it won't be the only browser-OS to exist soon.

@maw88ify You do realise this song is about 10 years old now? There was no Linux Mint when it was written. Not positive off the top of my head, but iirc 2.2 was EOL'd in 1999, not long before this song was made. 2.2 was a nightmare from an end user point of view. 2.4 was an improvement but still...
This song predates XP, let alone Vista. This also appeared around the time of Mac OS X BETA, which coming from a beta user, it was clunky and slow. Running it on my spiffy new G4 was comparable to a snail racing on the back of a turtle.

Linux is easy to use, Wubi is dummy proof...
Live CD's are great...
And Linux does get viruses.
and there are 100's of Linux versions out there free to take.
Linux Mint is about as dummy proof as they come most drive and every thing is already installed.

WaruiKoohii 4 years ago
Security
Now ease of use (I mean look at Ubuntu)
awesome option GUI effects (Compiz Fusion)
And four essential freedoms
silvercondouloboy06 4 years ago
Modern Windows is pretty secure. OS X is pretty secure. "Security" for advocating Linux is like saying "Popup blocker" for advocating Firefox.
Windows and OS X are easier to use. Linux is significantly easier to use than the BSD's, but still, it's not a reason to switch. Oh, yeah, I have used Ubuntu, including the newest release.
Yeah, they're cheesy. But what's your point?
Four essential freedoms?
WaruiKoohii 4 years ago
Saying Windows Vista is easy to use is like saying you enjoy headaches.
OS X is easy to use
Modern Linux distros are making Linux easier and easier to use
FreeBSD on a Mac (AKA Leopard) is easy to use
And yes, Linux has four essential freedoms due to it being open source. Freedoms Microsoft takes away.
silvercondouloboy06 4 years ago
I am a Vista user, have been for over a year now (Beta's included). And yes, it is easy to use. Headache's? No, I don't have problems with it.
