  • Joe's dead :(

  • Song's showing it's age. Modern (mobile|cell) phones seem to take a week to boot.

  • Guys - keep in mind this is supposed to be a joke :)

  • By now my cellphone does take a week to boot... And that even though it's called "smart"... :(

  • When this video came out, Linux was still having trouble booting or installing let alone running on typical home machines. That's why there's not very much information here. And FreeBSD was in a much worse state. You had better luck running NetBSD on a DreamCast.

  • awesome!

  • Classic

  • even after 10 years this song is epic!

  • What about FreeBSD?

  • you need a new song it has been 10 year i would love to here it

  • The LoadingReadyRun redux sucks

  • cool

  • What are the odds you'd tell me roughly what chords you use? Even if I say please?

  • @BrashOfKhaamph just play along, dumbass, it's hardly difficult like trying to replicate a technical death metal solo at 240bpm, is it?!

  • escapist(well LoadingReadyRun and Dead Troll posted it on escapist) made a far superior Every OS Sucks video.

  • This is brilliant, although what would have nicely finished the video would have been a BSOD at 6:24

  • @okee9 or a sad Mac icon, BSOD and such in quick sequence

  • I imagined him skinnier and with more hair.

  • this video makes me miss my ibm ps/2, i loved that beast, 16mhz of awesome *cries*

  • Comment Test

  • Wieso hab ich keinen Ton? Ist das wieder so eine Urheberre...Gate Keeper Schei... ? oder ein Bug?

  • This is so true and so awesome

  • LOL, great video! :D

  • My TV does crash when you mute it. Damn new-fangled cable box.

  • INDEED EVERY OS SUCKS

    LINUX USER 4 LIVE

  • @stealt86 just get done installing ubuntu, kiddo?

  • @Metal404Head no, but I did. It's almost pleasant to use... Graphical effects are great on just a 32MB Ati Radeon 7500. Haven't pushed it to any heavy computational tasks yet. Windows itself IS a heavy computational task, hehe.

  • @TVismyopiate Graphical effects? is that what you like?

This is why i hate "geeks" nowadays, its not about actual geeky stuff and more about the look of it.

    Such twaddle

  • @Metal404Head HELL YEAH I like graphical effects when they're ones that work efficiently on a 32MB card instead of something with 300% more VRAM, sure. My point was the efficiency, and being pleasantly surprised at the effects being so slick - not the fact that it was graphics - it was the last thing I did on the install, pretty much. I could make a comment on you missing the point like a broken link finds only a 404 error, but then again I understand your frustration with superficiality...

  • Love 3 dead troll's. Been following them since 2002. Say hi to Steve wright for me please.

  • Anyone seen the mouse for my Amiga?

  • it was only 2048 words of memory not 32k

  • Been using Linux Ubuntu for over a year now and not once has it crashed and it was actually easier to understand than OS X and better running than Windows (although anything is better than windows). So I beg to differ, Linux is better, sure it has its cons like most games wont work on it (for now) but it definitely has more stability.

But hey, awesome song I like it.

  • this songs great i remember listening to it in 96 when they had it hosted for free on the original site (mp3)

  • Ahhh, Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie. Even now, your point is valid, no matter how much the fan boys cry.

try their still active, though not updating site, Deadtroll [dot] com

  • Things are a little better these days. A very little better.

  • Sigh.... those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end.

  • How well does Chrome OS work if your network goes down?

  • ya no this was made in 2001? yep just saying 8/9 years can change alot in tech but ya no whatever

  • Sorry, but 9 years later, and this is very valid! So what, they can add chrome to the list. They can add phones now. Point is, every OS sucks

  • Uh chrome is a browser.. not an operating sytem. Thus! Your argument is invalid do to you failing at understanding what an operating sytem is. Thank you good night. ;D btw if you get mad just shows that u got trolled wew!

  • There is in fact a Chrome OS... you can google for it. Although its officially called "Chromium OS", being made by google apparently...

but either way why are we talking about it? I agree with Zippercdrr, "Point is, every OS sucks"

  • Wow, he used more power then it took to get to the moon, just to do this. Kids these days. They just don't know what they got

  • @Ididntkillher Chrome is an OS. You think you are so smart don't you.

  • Comment removed

  • @zombiesatemyretro Go to wikipedia, and type Chrome OS. Shut up.

  • @Ididntkillher they are releasing a chrome os.

  • Comment removed

  • The song is good but...

Linux is easy to use, Wubi is dummy proof...

    Live CD's are great...

    And Linux does get viruses.

and there are 100's of Linux versions out there free to take.

Linux Mint is about as dummy proof as they come most drive and every thing is already installed.

Tell you the true I like every OS Mac OS, Windows, Linux ,Plan9 all... but don't let the Mac fanboys read this... They are fun to make mad... :D

  • Keep in mind this song is also 8 years old. Linux wasn't as easy for non *nix users to use (and I would know) and Wubi didn't exist.

  • If Windows crashes it can wipe out Wubi.

  • You've clearly never bought a state-of-the-art laptop.

  • Ubuntu is a piece of crap. It gives GNU/Linux a bad name.

  • @maw88ify You do realise this song is about 10 years old now? There was no Linux Mint when it was written. Not positive off the top of my head, but iirc 2.2 was EOL'd in 1999, not long before this song was made. 2.2 was a nightmare from an end user point of view. 2.4 was an improvement but still...

  • You mean every GUI OS not every OS.

  • Great Job Guys.!

    Brings back memories...

    (More than 32 kilobyes)

  • Nice song luv it, :-)

  • FreeBSD.

  • You missed windows Vista... That sucks!

XP is pretty good for games & stuff. Bad for Viru's

Linux is great for price, speed, software, programming, networking... The lot.

So no matter how many OS's suck. Linux will always be the best out of them :D xD

    Nice song!

  • This song predates XP, let alone Vista. This also appeared around the time of Mac OS X BETA, which coming from a beta user, it was clunky and slow. Running it on my spiffy new G4 was comparable to a snail racing on the back of a turtle.

  • Linux is fine...if you major in computer sciences and coding. Trying to do anythign with it is a big old pain in the ass. I agree with these guys, computers just suck.

  • i have gotten allot of viruses with vista but none with xp

  • 2001? i was in grade 1 :D

  • If you're getting nostalgic within a decade, I'm sad for you.

  • No one uses opensolaris and solaris in general

  • What about it? It sucks! :-)

  • lol go to the moon or play pong xD

  • It's gr8 they charge you for the BETA and it costs a fortune, both the OS and the Hardware needed, right ?

  • lol i made crash a mac pro a twice times in the same day using just photoshop and illustrator and dunno what other stuff

  • i dont know how you did that, i have a macbook with only 1.83ghz processor, and 2 gb of ram.. i use photoshop, illustrator, lightroom and final cut pro all at the same time, with no issues

  • i dunno neither but im sure about something, im not going to buy a mac D: any case that mouse is totally useless and i preffer the wheel thing (save lots of time)

  • ... i have a wheel on my mouse.. and it has 2 buttons... actually it has 6 buttons...

  • ... u mean the lateral buttons? cuz those things were pretty useless and difficult the work

  • nope.. the mighty mouse has a wheel and buttons.. you just cant see them.. its touch sensitive... besides.. you can use ANY usb mouse with mac..

  • "mighty mouse" lol

  • ha my mouse has 10 buttons and its wireless :P

  • You best be trolling.

  • Actually it depended on the model you got. There were models going for around $5,000

  • Xp its working good on my pc

  • win me suck the most

  • Millennium edition sucks SOOO BAD!

  • not as bad as vista tho xD :P

  • i am not jokeing OS X baby

  • nice work. that song should come bundled with every hp laptop. its certainly more useful than the rest of the crap they pre-install. maybe you should talk to them about it.

  • Nicely done!

-- Linux user unafraid to admit its frustrating tendencies

  • *whispers*...Ubuntu doesn't suck, it saved my ass during my bachelor-project at the university...

  • worst for pc

  • You should also add xp, vista, 98 and all the other OS's that suck to the tags

  • lol thats legend im gna stick that on my website lol

  • Tags missing: "OS" , "Sux"... lol.

  • Added :)

  • you should put more tags in this video... you'll see your views will boost

  • thaks! Will do now...

  • Dude, congratulations... excelent job

  • All OS crash from one time or another. Like every OS has bugs and it fare share of stuff to be tweaked and worked on.

  • COMMODORE 64 FTW XD

  • yes it does, macfag.

  • then why do mac tech support forums exist?

protip: don't use an os that uses half-proprietary and half-opensource code.

  • i wonder on which OS they recorded this, I mean it didnt crash while recording

  • on a camcorder i bet :P

  • it's so true

  • danm windows on the mobiel phones let it crash

it's allways microsoft that let things crash

and BSD, Solaris where not knowed in 2001 ;)

  • The first Unix system at Berkeley was installed in 1974.

    Solaris was realeased in 1991.

    Kown you facts ;-)

  • Yup. UNICS dates back to 1969. (no spelling error). "Unix Time-Sharing System" as we know it dates to late 1971 (V1). 1BSD was first quarter of 1978 as memory serves.

  • Nice song, yet u forgot some players: BSD, Solaris.

Ne ways, ur phone doesn't crashes since it's likely to be build on linux ;-D

  • My phone does crash...

Anything can crash now days :)

  • you cannot be serious about Win98, because of it I lost a CD-Rom drive during a firmware upgrade, Windows just crashed, that was the moment I switched to XP

  • damm man i remember this when i was in college and belive it or not it still holds true today thnx to gates

  • Wow, I remember watching this years and years and YEARS ago. Still holds its truth today, too! Thanks for the nostalgia.

  • I have been using Windows for all my life since I was born. Window 98 was the most stable os I had used... It's pretty sad.

  • u call win 98 stable lmfao

  • Heh, better then XP man, crashing and virus galore. Window ME was shit. Vista is handy with all the built in drivers, but it's compatibility is shit. Then what would you say that's stable eh? What, window 2000?

  • UNIX LINUX

  • ...Crap, Another pragmatic computer quack. Whatever, trying to talk to you would be like trying to talk to a wall, and instead of farther degrading myself, I'll just go get a typewriter.

  • ok thats what you think its all koo im not like u lil kids on the nettryin to fight i just say it from how n what i see simple compare n contrast n i tell the better one is all from personal experience

  • its ok ive been using windows all my life too and i remember 98 it was pretty stable and it had some of the best programs on it too

  • Vista proved you're right guys lol

But Linux doesn't really suck as hard as others, specially recently! Take Ubuntu as a suitable choice as Desktop OS.

  • Ubuntu sucks more than MacOS. It gives GNU/Linux a bad name.

  • @TheGreatLolGirl1 Are you joking Linux Ubuntu, and Linux Mint are the two most users friendly Linux distributions out there... and Ubuntu is the most downloaded Linux distributions... I've used them all Fedora, Debian, DragonFly, Arch, Gentoo, , CentOS, Slackware, moonOS, Solaris, MINIX, and even OpenBSD... and more , but out of all of them I've tried I liked Linux Ubuntu the best.

  • @maw88ify It's slow, bloated, and buggy as all hell. Apt on it is horrible, the installer is too limited, the default installer installs packages I'll never use, they don't keep the livecd very well up-to-date, it sucks.

  • @TheGreatLolGirl1 if your judging a distro by a livecd then you could have hardly tried it! Secondly who cares if it installs packages you never use, in these days of terabyte hard disks?

  • @Andrial12 I agree , and plus they says it's bloated, but the total Ubuntu OS will fit on a 700 MB CD ...

  • @maw88ify Buntu IS bloated compared to some distro's, actually. It still boots faster than HP's custom win7 for me. Clean Win7's faster.

  • @Andrial12 In these days of terabyte hard disks, you'd still be pretty dumb to have a load of packages you don't use.

  • lol

  • For fsck's sake, it is a fscking music video. Get over and enjoy it.

  • of course it sucks, gotta treat it like a queen,

    or else...(Thank You)

  • freaking awesome

the best part is its true

  • if a "not sucky" OS is one that is: secure, user-friendly, free (in both meanings), and... cool? well there's no such thing. so you got to priorities. I choose freedom, even if it means i gotta learn some stuff. And linux or FreeBSD are the only ones that has the potential to become all those things

  • Come oN! You can say better things about any OS - AND this video is just a joke!

    relax!

  • perfect :-) love it

  • love it!!!

  • i had one crash on xp in 6 years, and it was self inflicted, but the Man is right.ya jus can't be too careful

  • You are a lier. Or used computer once a year, for Word and Spider Solitaire.

  • I feel sorry for you.

You have no idea how sorry i felt for you when i read your post.

    i hope things get better.

  • Hey, I've run XP since the day it hit the market. I've had maybe 3 crashes in all that time. All of them self induced.

But we all know it sucks, Windows 3.1 through to XP sucks, Mac sucks, Linux sucks (And I love Linux), anything with a GUI sucks, Solaris Sucks... Hey if humans were an OS... I bet we'd suck to... no comments about the ladies please ;)

  • jus gottta keep your sense of humor, and explore why there is nothing better.

    all in good time...

  • Every OS sucks?

    So instead you use...?

  • the least suckiest, duh! Why do you think I use Linux.

  • Wait, then why are you using Linux?

  • Because it awesome. :P

  • I've used Linux off an on since 1998. Where do I find this "awesome" you speak of?

  • Security

Now ease of use (I mean look at Ubuntu)

awesome option GUI effects (Compiz Fusion)

    And four essential freedoms

  • Modern Windows is pretty secure. OS X is pretty secure. "Security" for advocating Linux is like saying "Popup blocker" for advocating Firefox.

Windows and OS X are easier to use. Linux is significantly easier to use than the BSD's, but still, it's not a reason to switch. Oh, yeah, I have used Ubuntu, including the newest release.

Yeah, they're cheesy. But what's your point?

    Four essential freedoms?

  • Saying Windows Vista is easy to use is like saying you enjoy headaches.

OS X is easy to use

Modern Linux distros are making Linux easier and easier to use

FreeBSD on a Mac (AKA Leopard) is easy to use

And yes, Linux has four essential freedoms due to it being open source. Freedoms Microsoft takes away.

  • I am a Vista user, have been for over a year now (Beta's included). And yes, it is easy to use. Headache's? No, I don't have problems with it.

Ubuntu 7.10 is easier to use by far than SuSE 6. But just because it is easier to use than earlier Linux distro's, doesn't mean that it's as easy to use as more mainstream OS's. It is still well out of reach of the standard user, and personally, I'm not willing to investing that much time into getting my computer to do what I want.

  • Dude, I've used FreeBSD. No, just no. It reminds me of Linux back in 1998.

Aside from not being able to modify the OS at the source level, what freedoms does Microsoft take away?

  • OS X is FreeBSD made easy. :P

and as for freedoms, with Windows, you cannot legally install it on multiple machines without having multiple licenses.

  • well who cares about legality nowadays?

  • "Computers were used to do two things: You gotta go in to moon or play Pong. Nothing in between..." hahahah

  • Excellent :0)

  • You're just not using Linux right... =\

  • hell yeah you are preacing to the choir tdtiab kudos

  • haha n1! So true that it hurts ^^
