HI Bob, I was looking at your video and I saw a 1:35 min when your were moving your rudder you add a lot of flex in the door of your servo under the number 4, is that normal?
Bob, just a heads up. Noticed when you zoomed in on the landing hear that when you brought them back up, the gear door on the wing didn't close very snug. I know it's an issue you were working on so not sure if you got to that yet, but if not, wanted to give you the heads up.
HD Rocks!!! Man...take out the painting vids, and my guess I was right on!! The THUD looks killer!!!!! Quick control surfaces!! That camera might not be good for filming the plane in action, but I bet it would be awesome on-board!!! :-D
I have not posted in forever, but could someone fill me in real quick on whatever happened to the B-1 project? Did it get scrapped or just given up on? I went from watching B-1 building action, then the next I seen was F-105. Just wondering is all.
@jasonjanise Its all good Jason. The B-1 goodness is still the goal, this is just a necessary intermission. No one has forgotten the B-1, but it is an expensive build...I dont know how much, but I am guessing 15-20k, not including man hours. The F-105 Thunderchief has a great project with hundreds of teachable moments, and is helping to pay for the completion of the B-1.
Bob, Don't forget to add the rest of the mounting screws for the rudder servo. When you move the rudder the servo mount swings back and forth. You can plainly see it in the video when you move the rudder.
You know Bob, you started out with the intention of teaching everything from making the plug onwards, but the cnc has gotten in the way. how about including old school plug making methods without cnc for your next project?
That blackbird is sweet, but I think that BOB O DAD was nearly 80 percent finished when bob did his first video. On the B-1 they started with calculations based on a plastic model and were right at starting the cross sections when they ran across Butch who already had a cnc plug sitting around. that ended the tutorial on plug making.
the news about your pop is GREAT! So glad to hear it. And, of course, the Thundercheif is looking EXCELLENT! Did you break the horn on the small inside door when the mains air got low and didnt' raise? Hope so! :) More videos! LOL
Looks good Bob.... Hey I'm still down here in Abilene, TX on a temporary job and hoping before I take out that I get to see that B-1 maiden. If it doesn't happen down here I'll just watch ya fly the smaller ones when I move back to KS.
Great your Dad is doing good, best wishes to ya both!
Wow Bob it looks great!! you really out done yourself with this one. But couldn't you do like 62 more videos, I really think you need to LOL. Check my # for how many videos for the Thunderchief 105 LOL......

Same here for lacking CNC although I've operated them in my working life. Anyhow, Check out Bob Sr.'s
SR-71 build. Bobs dad is old school. Great vids with good explanations.
Cheers
