  • This song is transcendant. I loved Weeping Tile and got less enamoured of Sarah Harmer with each new solo album, but this is still one of the favourite songs of my life so far.

  • Reminds me of a place where one day I will be, with the one I love..xo

  • Love sarah's music. But this is her best song.... So seductive... please come to long island, {Not just the city,} they are just starting to play your music and once more people realize what a talant you are, well our little island will be a better place...

  • Great Canadian songstress, wonderful song, peaceful, what to say? Talented woman.

  • What a great song. Love it. I linked it to our invitation to a night paddle.

I think Sarah Marmer wil forgive me as I also took the liberty of advertising her show here in Newfoundland.

  • lovely!

  • oh I miss home so badly. Living in the States when my heart and soul is back in Canada with my family.......I can't wait to return. it's music like this that keeps me going.......wait for it..... <3

  • i am not really into sarah harmer, though when i heard this song, it almost made me cry.

  • This song was our first dance at our wedding. :)

  • 10 people couldn't wait..

  • I wish more people knew about this song. It is so lovely. Me and one of my closest friends both grew up to be writers and we love this song. We listen to it as we eat ramen noodles and dream of the day when we can make enough money to afford McDonald's and the time and money to actually get on a boat and not think about writing.

  • omg yes

    I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!

  • @cheeseyserpant brennan u like this 0.0 tHIs is not my music

  • yes!

  • @nobusan84 as much as i love this song, people have the right to state disapproval. the "video" is just a static picture... ho hum. a beautiful song, though.

  • there are not enough 'likes' in the world for this song... i love it so much.

  • I loved this song growing up. I would literally wake up in the morning when I was 4 or 5 and start singing this song by memory. It was one of the first songs I learned by heart, and ot this day, I still remember the lyrics.

  • i absolutly adore the second half <3 wish the whole song had that tune with the drums

  • @milkmilk6 I agree - the second half is my favourite too - but I think the anticipation of that builds through the slow and soothing first half is what makes this such a phenomenal piece of music. "Listen, the darkness rings" is one of my favourite lyrics ever, by anyone. She's got a lot of lyrics in my top 10 =)

  • i first heard this sung by a family member by a fire along with guitar. it sounded amazing.

  • Canuck living in London UK, and to be honest I use to listen to this whether I was in Toronto or Calgary. It makes me think of home and what a great country I have come from.

  • .....At least some of us think so.... :) ;)

  • ...Precious....

  • This song has an outstanding push and pull, like she is holding back a driving rhythm. It's so Canadian - never letting it get out of control.

  • @susansweetg Sounds like Canadians are very Vulcan-like. Fascinating.

  • @LtDualla you should check out the Great Lake Swimmers, particularly "Your Rocky Spine".

  • This is my Canadian anthem. . .camping anthem anyway! Amazing song :)

  • A great song from a great album. I have the original handmade self released numbered and signed edition of this cd and I will never part with it.

  • i love this : (

  • What a great song... 5* and thanks for sharing,

    Lilly

  • fantastic tune, anyone know which album it's from??

  • @AviatorAndyK this song is from the album "you were here". it's amazing!! then she has "all of our names" and "i'm a mountain", both great albums as well! :)

  • yeah i own 'all of our names', great album, brilliant tunes on there, i really like "almost" thats a gooder!!

  • Aaaaah, yes... wait for it!! Sheer brilliance.

this song brings about the dreamiest feeling of contentment... and pleasant sighs.

    -sigh-

    :)

  • 17 of these view counts are from me.

  • This is my favourite non-Weeping-Tile song of hers, far and away. It's brilliant. Equal to my other favourite ballad of hers, "Out in the Road", maybe better.

  • Maybe one of my favourite songs ever. Would play this song on roadtrips up north, the kids were little but everyone in the car would get dreamy quiet, just take it in and imagine we were all at the lake already. Sometimes in the dead of winter this tune can warm me to the depths with sound and memory. Pure Canadiana to be enjoyed by all. Thank you Sarah.

  • @aurorafrap

Canadian and a half indeed .

  • waiting for it always pays off

  • the sexual overtone is deep sarah; from the buildup of the vocals to the rapid heart beet of the music.

  • Gotta love the Horn!!!

  • 3:08 is where it gets really good

  • this song has such a nice surprise <3 i had this album a few years before the whole thing really clicked with me. i love that. i completely attribute sarah for getting me into folk music.

  • I have seen her twice in concert. Great performer:)

  • "Wait for it." I like your directions.

I picked up the EP on cassette for like a buck at a thrift shop when I was in college, and to this day, this song send shivers down my spine.

God, I love that horn part!

  • Another great song by Sarah! She deserves more air play. Fuck mainstream for not seeing the genius in her.

  • I waited for it!!

  • its ontario, not quite south

  • Reminds me of Virginia.

  • Such intensely southern imagery...makes me long for my hometown of Houston.
