This song is a very sensitive moment for Mozzer, and I think he is telling us that it's okay to want, want, and want for all it's worth, because it won't last,. All of his music comes from a place of sensitivity. Even the raunchier material. That said, I wonder who, or what this was for or abouit. B/C it doesn't strike me as usual Mozzer fare.
@lofilife You must think I'm pretty stupid. I'm a film man all the way, w/ the original soundtrack of the film with the original version. I know a little too, dig?
@bansheefan57 Actually I retract that because you're last sentence is, "I wonder who, or what this was for or abouit. B/C it doesn't strike me as usual Mozzer fare." Because if you actually DID know it was a cover, you wouldn't be referring to it as "Mozze fare", ie: something written by him, or wondering what he was writing it about, if you did actually know it wasn't written by him.
@lofilife I'm not looking to argue. I simply meant that the nature of this song is out of the way for Morrissey. He obviously was singing about something, if not for just to cover a song he wanted to pay tribute to, and it very well could have been that, but my comment was suggesting the former. Maybe there was someone, or maybe it's just the feeling of wanting in general. Whatever. Onward and upward.
@lofilife Um, then why is your entire comment about what you think "he" is telling us with the music and how "his" music comes from a place of sensitivity? He didn't write it. It's not "his" music. That was my point, dude. But, OK, if you claim to be all these other things then maybe you just worded your comment really, really badly. Whatever.
how clever and deep is this guy?

I am a purist. Morrissey has an enormous bank of glorious original songs he should not be doing covers ... but I love this.

Although I love Siouxsie, she was very poor vocally in the duet. I am glad to hear what this one is like without her.

This version makes me feel like Moz is singing this while being alone in the dark... Which makes it more adorable in a way. Poor Moz.
