Not only do they fail to see that they are solopsistic, they do not realize that the success and economic stimmulation of their country has very little to do with "democracy" and morals, rather the repression and hinderence to the success and economic growth of other countries. Sorry, you're right that was a bit preachy, there is nothing wrong with protecting things that are important to you. Alls I am saying is that "doing what needs to be done to protect their future" sounds a litle too much like "I was just following orders" to me. Just imagine if the money from the US military budget was spent on something worth while for once; Education, welfare, healthcare, hell even if it was just spent on reducing budget (or even paying UN fee's ;p).
