Had a L200 but it blow its head gasket twice so scraped it, have a discovery 3 now that has not given me any trouble......so far.

Proper use of the transfer box would solve many of these problems and he is only using road tyres.

Horse for course.  I've also owned both. The defender in the and an L200 animal. I now own a Pajero 3.2 here in Thailand. I have the Pajero for both on and 0ff-road.

I guess it's horses for courses. I owned a defender in the UK, i love it. I now live in Thailand and have a Pajero 3.2. I'd choose the pajero for both on and off-road.

why don't you try a Defender, we run a quarry and olny use them, the Japanese off roaders are not man enough for the job most of the time. Bog down too easily and (this is not a joke) are less reliable / sturdy.

defenders are not reliable, esepcially new ones, absouloute scrap.. mitsubushi or toyota are and will always be the king of 4 wheel drive

here we go....i now own a 02 L200 GL..crew cab..and ive owed landrovers for ever.and landrover will always beat this offroad because of the chassis,but the power of my L200 compared to the 300tdi discovery i had before is amazing..ive gone from a 119bhp disco to a 139 bhp L200 and you certainly notice the difference....good trucks for what they are which is working vehicles

I have an old shape, and I like it but I wouldn't recommend one

in my view the Ford Ranger is the one to go for, having driven all bar the new shape L200

I love mine, but with 4500 mile service intervals, 98bhp and everything being so basic I can't recommend it

maybe better specced ones, or the current shape would be good
