it is improved with new asgard shielding and beam weapons aswell as the newest teleportation tech (also asgard), along with a hull now made from the same material as the earth stargate shield (i forgot the name lol). as far as i know the rail guns are the same as the promethius.

just saying, not trying to cause an argument, but rail or "gauss" guns are theoretically supposed to fire anything magnetic out the barrel at the speed of light, or close to it. those shots that daedalus fires just don't look nearly as fast. that brings me to the question: what is it exactly that daedalus improved upon from the previous class?

Yeah! Why dont they make epic death star pistols too! and cannons that shoot entire suns at other ships, and a gun that fires black holes. Even Stargate has to be somewhat realistic

no... that would waste alot of ammo with missing, missiles would hit missiles, most likely damaging the ship

That wouldnt make sense, they would have so many guns that the ship's exterior would be weaker because it would have no solid outer hull, plus they would have to make room to store extra ammo, so they would have to take away from living quarters and other facilities making for a smaller crew, and a gun covered ship would look ridiculous :P

they should have armed the Daedalus class of ships with nuclear missiles as well as the regular ones.. more rail guns wouldn't have hurt either

Or they could do what the Germans did, fire nukes out of a tank. Or make slightly large railguns that can fire nuke rounds. A four second burst would tear through a hive ship with ease, and those nuke shells are only about 2cubic feet in size.
