It felt like I was trying to get more water out of a cup that was already empty. My sister invited me to her upc church and that's where I found what I was looking for. I never knew that you could know God more. That's where I've been drinking from the cup that doesn't empty.

They seem to set a new standard amoung Pentecostal Churches. In my sight the development of a church depends strongly upon the pastor. This one (I mean the senior pastor whom you can't see on this picture) here seems to have a humble attitude and a wide heart for the Lord Jesus Christ and for encouraging and developing the believers to ministers. No problem there. People like to nitpick us born again christians over the fast music causing what they call "mass hysteria" and wild music. Some even say we stop when the music stops, which is sometimes true because the order of the service is changing. I, like you, always relate to the words and that's why I personally will dance to songs fast and slow. Sometimes I don't even care about the beat. I'll dance offbeat because to me it's not always about the music but the message. God bless :)
Yup...it's the music. Have someone sing the song who can't carry a tune in a bucket and without music. See if the blessings come. Actually, completely remove the music and see how hard it is to recieve that awesome experience. Funny how when the music stops, the Spirit stops...
I have been to church services without the music and singing, even services with horrible music or horrible singing, but the anointing was always still there. Don't judge to quickly, or even judge lest ye be judged.
Good point, and I have been in many such services. However, there is a power in music that is many times mistaken for something heavenly, or the music is used as a stimulant to produce a Spirit-filled atmosphere. Sunday Morning drag can be overcome by songs written in the major accompanied by a fast, rock-based beat. Very interesting stuff. More study required.
I'm a member of my church's praise team, and I know of times I sang out of key, but the Spirit of God was still moving. But before church service we spend about 20 minutes in the prayer room. I know POA spends more time praying before services, and there is always someone in their prayer room praying. But what's most important about the music and songs are the lyrics.. the message of the song. It's not about how it's sung, but that it comes from the heart. That's where the anointing comes from.
Agreed... This is kinda off the point, but you know how they sings songs like the one that goes, "Thanks to calvary, I don't go there anymore..." How can a person who has been raised in the church and never done such things worship to that song? Not saying that person is not a sinner, but some people can't relate to songs about being deilvered from drugs, rage, or alcoholism. How do you truly worship when you can't fully understand what this person feels about being delivered?
Well it's not just about the singer's view. Yes, that's important, but we all are delivered from something. I never had drug or alcohol problems, but God has delivered me from depression, rebellion, and many other things. But if someone can't relate with the song, they should be thanking God they never went through that, and thanking and praising God that God delivered that person from what they went through. We can't just edify ourselves, but others that God has delivered them from their sins.

I was in church this passed Sunday with my sister. A few days prior I had told her to watch the reactions to the music be it upbeat or slow. When someone sang a slow, sad number, people stayed seated with raised hands. When the high powered ( I dare say "rock") music came, people stood and started moving with the beat i.e. clapping, twisting, swaying, etc. No one waited to see what the message of the song was. It was the music that stirred them. I don't see this as a bad thing. Just interesting.
Not sure what church you go to, but thats not always true. Sometimes those slow, sad sounding songs is when God really moves us and touches our hearts to stand and praise Him with up lifted arms to Him!
Amen. I have seen people dance to the slower songs. I even had danced before God with slow music and without music. But overall there is nothing wrong with dancing to the fast songs and just lifting your hands and not dancing to the slow songs. I'm just saying that JoeHardy15 is right in a way, and isn't. I'm not saying his comment is bad, but just partially right, and there's nothing wrong with that. But I have seen other faith's that don't even dance to the upbeat music, those dead churches.
Eh there's nothing wrong with it, which I agree with you on this. But I can get up and dance and shout to God and still not know what the song is about. Although, I personally sometimes don't even worry about the music and dance before the Lord, whether it's fast, slow, or there is no music. This song I will admit I have danced and shouted along. Not a fast dance, but I danced.

No problem there. People like to nitpick us born again christians over the fast music causing what they call "mass hysteria" and wild music. Some even say we stop when the music stops, which is sometimes true because the order of the service is changing. I, like you, always relate to the words and that's why I personally will dance to songs fast and slow. Sometimes I don't even care about the beat. I'll dance offbeat because to me it's not always about the music but the message. God bless :)

Yup...it's the music. Have someone sing the song who can't carry a tune in a bucket and without music. See if the blessings come. Actually, completely remove the music and see how hard it is to recieve that awesome experience. Funny how when the music stops, the Spirit stops...

I have been to church services without the music and singing, even services with horrible music or horrible singing, but the anointing was always still there. Don't judge to quickly, or even judge lest ye be judged.

Good point, and I have been in many such services. However, there is a power in music that is many times mistaken for something heavenly, or the music is used as a stimulant to produce a Spirit-filled atmosphere. Sunday Morning drag can be overcome by songs written in the major accompanied by a fast, rock-based beat. Very interesting stuff. More study required.

I'm a member of my church's praise team, and I know of times I sang out of key, but the Spirit of God was still moving. But before church service we spend about 20 minutes in the prayer room. I know POA spends more time praying before services, and there is always someone in their prayer room praying. But what's most important about the music and songs are the lyrics.. the message of the song. It's not about how it's sung, but that it comes from the heart. That's where the anointing comes from.

Agreed... This is kinda off the point, but you know how they sings songs like the one that goes, "Thanks to calvary, I don't go there anymore..." How can a person who has been raised in the church and never done such things worship to that song? Not saying that person is not a sinner, but some people can't relate to songs about being deilvered from drugs, rage, or alcoholism. How do you truly worship when you can't fully understand what this person feels about being delivered?

Well it's not just about the singer's view. Yes, that's important, but we all are delivered from something. I never had drug or alcohol problems, but God has delivered me from depression, rebellion, and many other things. But if someone can't relate with the song, they should be thanking God they never went through that, and thanking and praising God that God delivered that person from what they went through. We can't just edify ourselves, but others that God has delivered them from their sins.

dear joe... I am amazed that you understand the definition of music. will it be stuoid of me to say that music carry a spirit in secular music whtr its hip hop, romantic , orchestra it moves people..so anything dedicated to God is worthy of His Shekinah Glory..I knw if you give your best to God He will do the rest sometimes our effort of singing can be off but the sincerity is we do it to honor Him

I was in church this passed Sunday with my sister. A few days prior I had told her to watch the reactions to the music be it upbeat or slow. When someone sang a slow, sad number, people stayed seated with raised hands. When the high powered ( I dare say "rock") music came, people stood and started moving with the beat i.e. clapping, twisting, swaying, etc. No one waited to see what the message of the song was. It was the music that stirred them. I don't see this as a bad thing. Just interesting.

Not sure what church you go to, but thats not always true. Sometimes those slow, sad sounding songs is when God really moves us and touches our hearts to stand and praise Him with up lifted arms to Him!

Amen. I have seen people dance to the slower songs. I even had danced before God with slow music and without music. But overall there is nothing wrong with dancing to the fast songs and just lifting your hands and not dancing to the slow songs. I'm just saying that JoeHardy15 is right in a way, and isn't. I'm not saying his comment is bad, but just partially right, and there's nothing wrong with that. But I have seen other faith's that don't even dance to the upbeat music, those dead churches.

Eh there's nothing wrong with it, which I agree with you on this. But I can get up and dance and shout to God and still not know what the song is about. Although, I personally sometimes don't even worry about the music and dance before the Lord, whether it's fast, slow, or there is no music. This song I will admit I have danced and shouted along. Not a fast dance, but I danced.
It's funny you said "rock" music.. Where do you think it came from? Elvis was a Pentecostal like us! God bless :)
