UK & European customers have purcahsed LX Series machines to undertake some very arduous machining tasks into pre-hardened material.
One such customer is in the jewllery business, & machines all of their intricate fine tolerance & detailed moulds on an LX0-5AX.
If you are in the UK, please come along to Matsuura UK's Open House on the 12th, 13th & 14th of May 2009. You will see first hand the remarkable capabilities of Matsuura product.
a perfect compliment to that cnc porn would be a c.m.m.(coordinate measuring machine) mod the probe with a giant dildo on the probe to mod it on the cmm to invent a c.c.m. coordinate cunt machine! jam it in and if it beeps too soon the bitch is too loose! the table is still there if the cmm breaks down too! test it with your own probe!!!
we have a 30,000rpm matsuura fx-1 machine - you can actually use the spindle rpm to tune the spindle in using a chromatic musical tuner! we have some musician bods here that are always messing about with stuff like that.
The LX Series have superb rapid traverse rates - starting at 90 metres a minute (thats 3,543.3ipm in American) & ultra high speed spindles - starting at 40,000RPM. The gains made in terms of cycle times & productivity against a conventional cnc machine are immense - & anytime lost through the 10 second tool change are negligable compared to the production gains made.
We have supplied many LX machines globally - & we are often asked to slow them down by our customers!
Ultra high speed machining - this is why Matsuura is the best in the world. I have worked a couple of MAM72 5 axis multi pallet machines in the UK. They are awsome. I am currently working at a place that has a shedload of Matsuura HPlus-300 4 axis horizontals - very cool & they never stop.
from a solid works file, how long did it take to program? It looked like it could have been easly done with a forth axis, why so many light Z axis cuts when they could have cut the perifery in one rough cut, maybe just showing off :)
In England at Birmingham University they have a Matsuura LX-1 linear motor machine with a 60,000rpm spindle. It a part of an advanced research programme into Micro Machining & new materials.
wait.. was there more than one set of x and y or was it just my eyes playin tricks?

At 40,000rpm and direct-drive I would think the motor is brushless DC and not 3-phase AC.

I gather that is cutting aluminum. I can't see cutting steel that fast. It does a very nice job.

Wow!
90 metres a minute, 40,000rpm spindle!
I thought 20,000 was a bit scary!
More LX videos please!
Cheers

Since the machine seems to be quite musical already, you should program it to play a tune by varying the spindle motor rotational frequency.

Price for any Matsuura CNC solution is dependant on the application.
Matsuura tailor all machines to the customers end process - often delivering a bespoke production process to the rend user.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars?
Possible, but an LX0 5AX would have to be specced to the max & then some for it to be true.
This level of proven state of the art Matsuura production machinery is more cost effective & achievable than you think.

real impressive tool path, but I am shocked at how slow the tool changes are for such a high dollar / high speed machine.

OMG!!..sweeeeeeeeeet!.....how much does this machine cost?

Hundreds of thousands of dollar. But it's function is limitless and it's precision is one of the best in the industry.

I wonder what they used for software, Master Cam?

Thats brilliant. I wish I could see something in the frame to gauge how big the piece is. The toolholder size is apparently BT30.
