I'm looking for Freddie's swing in slo mo, and this is what I get. You have a decent swing. Maybe you're a 10 handicapper. But I would never ever compare your swing to Fred Couples. Your instructor is smoking crack. Either that, or he's sucking up to get you to pay him some more money.

give this guy some credit, the one thing he does really well is clear his hips, not an easy move for most amatuers. This could lead to the dreaded pull hook though and if his hips release to early he'll just end up flipping at impact again but other than that very impressive.

To you golf nuts out there, you can practise a hundred years, you will get no where near the way Fred swings the golf club.His big shoulder turn, quiet lower body, strong leg drive etc just make his swing one of a kind....so smooth,powerful but above all, he makes it look so damned easy and effortless.

Fred's swing gets steep, but not until he's past the halfway back point. From address to the halfway back point, he's right on plane. However, he then gets way above the plane at the top of the swing. Although I'd rather see somebody be too upright than too flat on the backswing. What makes Freddy's swing is his amazing flexibility. If you want to get in his great positions, you need to have his flexibility.

Freddy's swing looks amazingly smooth, but I don't think it is a good idea to imitate him. He is quite steep in the backswing, 2 plane, has a flying elbow.. it obviously works for him, but probably it is not repeatable enough for the average joe. My tip: Control the downswing with the left side and keep the right hand relaxed until impact. During ball contact the right hand and especially the index finger takes over and you get the smooth follow through.

A strong grip don't mean he holds it tight. It means that his right hand overlaps further round on the club. A weak grip the hands are more neutral and hardly overlap on the grip.
