I am so new to photoshop and I am using CS5. I was following your video to do this, and realize it's not the same. I think this video is only good for cs3 and 4, right? Will you have more video for CS5?
@thejtphotograph No, It absolutely works for CS5 only Photoshop added Panels for the Adjustments with more controls. Usually anything from previous versions of Photoshop will work in newer ones but the opposite is not always the case.
I agree with everyone else, the detail is incredibly helpful. Those who assume knowledge and miss instructions render the whole exercise pointless. So enjoyed that. Do you have any more?
Dude I know some people on here think these vids are too long because they are sooooo advanced but as a Photoshop re-beginner your vids are the best I've seen. It gets annoying when people assume their audience knows exactly what to click and when. I don't so Thank you.... very very much. :)
Thank you. Folks like you are my target audience and I appreciated it so much when you make these comments...and most of the comments are favorable. In the big picture only a few get annoyed with the details I include in my vids. So, I'm not changing my style.Don't worry!
thanks a lot for your video. I think they are great. However too long. I would say that if you are showing advanced techniques, avoid to explain basic things like press ctrl-D to change the color... etc.
I have the feeling of saying yes, yes, i know that - continue with the main idea please!
anyway you are a great help for beginers and for advanced with much patience ;-) thanks
Thanks for the comment and I often preface my vids, knowing I'm long-winded but it's for the benefit of beginners, so advanced users will just have to be patient. BTW ctrl-D is the shortcut to "Deselect" not to changing color. Don't know if that's your mistake or mine if it was mentioned in the video. ;-)
X key switches foreground / background colors. With the default black / white and when masking white reveals and black conceals...so it's not really erasing, just appears that way.
Great tutorial. Really helped me learn some of the more in-depth aspects of the adjustment layer options. Thanks Mama and keep on making these great videos.
hey guys. i'm a newbie so i'm still searching through the vids, lol. but in the meantime you can download your own photoshop e-book and have your own personalized tutor at your fingertips.
check out the website in my info section on my channel page and lemme know what you think!
excellent tut, one of the very few clear and audiable ones ive seen. ill have to look through ur site to see what other cool stuffage you have . if you are looking for anything to stick and load into photoshop, go to deviant art. they have the best selection of free stuff ive found (you will need an account)
Hello, Mama Shan! Oh, my gosh! love your photoworks! thanks for this tutorial. I hope you'll upload more videos and teach us lots of tecqniques:) God bless!
For this tutorial I did use a Wacom Intuos 5x8 Graphics Tablet. They are fabulous! However, for the majority of my other tutorials, I use a mouse because most folks don't have a tablet. That size runs around $300, I believe. Whether a mouse or Pen/Tablet it takes a little bit to "get used to" either.
Mama, i ahve a question, at the beginning of your tutorial, you mentioned to "dither" the gradient map. why so? is it like antialiasing? Softens the gradient?
Thanks so much for taking the time for all of this, i always love checking out your tutorials!
Dither doesn't soften but it breaks up the "banding" that can occur in the trasition of the colors of the gradient and sometimes isn't noticeable until you print. Dithering would be closer to noise or dots, not softening.
As a pro myself I say; listen to Photoshopmama nOObs, because she's one of the few on YouTube who actually understands how Photoshop works inlcuding non-destructive editing. Don't learn the wrong way, listen to this woman, she knows what she's talkig about.
thnx soooooooo much that was really gr8 but i want to know the site of tones but really u r the greatest and u r sooo eazy and u gives us step by step really thnx sooo:)))))
Thanks Cher, You're soon to become a middle-aged Photoshop addict, like me. The "warning" isn't on the box...so I thought I'd give you a "heads up"! smiles!
Yes there are 3 main ways. 1: Click left/right square bracket keys to shrinkg/enlarge. 2. Right click while brush is selected and popup window with slider appears to change it. 3. With brush tool selected change size from the top Options bar.
Thanks Pink! I made the banners in Photoshop and YouTube recently asked me to be a "Partner" so that gives me some perks as far as additional banner creation and visibility.
great tutorial... i have a qestion how did you get the panner on this with the picture on the desciption and where there is a banner on top of your page????
