  • thanx for sharing your knowledge!!! :D

  • Great Tutorial

  • Hi There,

Thanks for putting this tutorial up. As a newbie, I found it to be very informative.

  • ..wow.. that's really great. my mom doesn't even know how to boot her pc...lolz

  • mama where can i download those gradient maps?

  • I am so new to photoshop and I am using CS5. I was following your video to do this, and realize it's not the same. I think this video is only good for cs3 and 4, right? Will you have more video for CS5?

  • @thejtphotograph No, It absolutely works for CS5 only Photoshop added Panels for the Adjustments with more controls. Usually anything from previous versions of Photoshop will work in newer ones but the opposite is not always the case.

  • I agree with everyone else, the detail is incredibly helpful. Those who assume knowledge and miss instructions render the whole exercise pointless. So enjoyed that. Do you have any more?

  • @BaneBrick Thanks, yes I have over 140 videos on my photoshopmama channel here on YouTube and others on my Web site in the Products & Chores areas.

  • This system is very nice example for image masking. If you need good clipping path, image masking and other services then follow me.

  • excellent tutorial.

  • Hats off to you Mama

  • Great Tut, PSMama!

  • nice one

  • help. i can't see the picture on the side

  • Oh Mama!!! You're sooo good ;)))

  • u rock mama

  • lol Mama Shan

  • women are good at photoshop too.

  • you sound like you should be baking cookies (not to sound demeaning or anything- i actually love it), but you are really good at photoshop.

  • Maybe I'll start a baking and cooking channel next!

  • I love you! You make things so easy. I dont care if it took an hour! Thanks so much!

  • Dude I know some people on here think these vids are too long because they are sooooo advanced but as a Photoshop re-beginner your vids are the best I've seen. It gets annoying when people assume their audience knows exactly what to click and when. I don't so Thank you.... very very much. :)

  • Thank you. Folks like you are my target audience and I appreciated it so much when you make these comments...and most of the comments are favorable. In the big picture only a few get annoyed with the details I include in my vids. So, I'm not changing my style.Don't worry!

  • Thanks Mama Shan for this awesome tutorial.

Very informative and creative like always.

  • thanks. can write the link at the side. ?cause it would be great if i can use the same photo and follow step by step

  • These tutorials are the best Ive seen on youtube for photoshop thx more please :)

  • awesome! thank you for this great tutorial!

  • awesome

  • Thanks Ur the best PhotoShop Tutorial-er Ever =D

  • How's your vid 12 minutes?

  • Thanks so much for this! :) You're very patient, and I'm a complete beginner so I need it to be that way, haha. x

  • thanks a lot for your tut. i really enjoy them.

im a beginner and i dont think they are too long if anything, i couldnt get enough of it. once again thank

i enjoy every second of it

  • You are welcome and I especially appreciate hearing a beginner can learn advanced tasks from all my chatter!

  • Thank you

  • ok we get the idea, but the technique?, wouldn't be more easier to use pen tool fist making the selections.?

  • thanks a lot for your video. I think they are great. However too long. I would say that if you are showing advanced techniques, avoid to explain basic things like press ctrl-D to change the color... etc.

I have the feeling of saying yes, yes, i know that - continue with the main idea please!

anyway you are a great help for beginers and for advanced with much patience ;-) thanks

  • Thanks for the comment and I often preface my vids, knowing I'm long-winded but it's for the benefit of beginners, so advanced users will just have to be patient. BTW ctrl-D is the shortcut to "Deselect" not to changing color. Don't know if that's your mistake or mine if it was mentioned in the video. ;-)

  • I was having a lil trouble on this but thanks to you [!], I can now finish my edited picture. Thanks!! =]

  • wow

  • oh gosh! that was really informative

  • Thank you very much, great tutorial

  • what's the website you recommended for downloading gradients? I didin't understand what you said. :)

  • Great tutorials. Thank you so much for posting.

  • the modle is very atractive....

  • i cant find tht gradient colour u chose

  • thnx very much : )) ps. great turitorial

  • X key switches foreground / background colors. With the default black / white and when masking white reveals and black conceals...so it's not really erasing, just appears that way.

  • how to earase. ? with key X ?

  • Wonderful Tutorial :)

  • yeah cant download these gradients from anywhere on that site

  • would be great if u show the before n after everytime u apply an effect so we can all see the results =)

  • the super duper shortcut (shift+ctrl+alt+E) won't work for me...whyyy? T_T

  • for Mac it is Shift Command Option +E

  • Mama, why do you click Dither? I can never figure that out. Thank you for all your tutorials. You help me so much and I really appreciate it.

  • Hello, Mama Shan! Oh, my gosh! love your photoworks! thanks for this tutorial. I hope you'll upload more videos and teach us lots of tecqniques:) God bless!

  • beautiful... very easy to follow..

    mama i have a question..

when you do tutorial vids, do you use a pen? (i dont know the name of it)or just a mouse? which is more easier to use..a pen or a mouse?

    is it expensive?

    TY

    bryn

  • For this tutorial I did use a Wacom Intuos 5x8 Graphics Tablet. They are fabulous! However, for the majority of my other tutorials, I use a mouse because most folks don't have a tablet. That size runs around $300, I believe. Whether a mouse or Pen/Tablet it takes a little bit to "get used to" either.

  • Mama, i ahve a question, at the beginning of your tutorial, you mentioned to "dither" the gradient map. why so? is it like antialiasing? Softens the gradient?

Thanks so much for taking the time for all of this, i always love checking out your tutorials!

  • Dither doesn't soften but it breaks up the "banding" that can occur in the trasition of the colors of the gradient and sometimes isn't noticeable until you print. Dithering would be closer to noise or dots, not softening.

  • where can i download photoshop?

  • buy it

  • if u have an ares u can download it in software

  • like Ares where you can download stuff i have that

  • thanks for sharing this wonderfall tutorial....

    ismail from Morocco

  • As a pro myself I say; listen to Photoshopmama nOObs, because she's one of the few on YouTube who actually understands how Photoshop works inlcuding non-destructive editing. Don't learn the wrong way, listen to this woman, she knows what she's talkig about.

  • thnx soooooooo much that was really gr8 but i want to know the site of tones but really u r the greatest and u r sooo eazy and u gives us step by step really thnx sooo:)))))

  • This is awesome. I'm still really learning, but i just mess around for fun in photoshop.

It's good to know there are tutorials on here, sure beats reading them.

    Thanks!

  • Great tutorial! Great teaching style!!!

From Cher - A middle aged Photoshop newbie

  • Thanks Cher, You're soon to become a middle-aged Photoshop addict, like me. The "warning" isn't on the box...so I thought I'd give you a "heads up"! smiles!

  • I love your tutorials and would to know is there more than one way to change the brush size i see you do it in the video

  • Yes there are 3 main ways. 1: Click left/right square bracket keys to shrinkg/enlarge. 2. Right click while brush is selected and popup window with slider appears to change it. 3. With brush tool selected change size from the top Options bar.

  • Wonderful Tutorial :)

  • this tut is so great... thanks for uploading it

  • Thanks Pink! I made the banners in Photoshop and YouTube recently asked me to be a "Partner" so that gives me some perks as far as additional banner creation and visibility.

  • great tutorial... i have a qestion how did you get the panner on this with the picture on the desciption and where there is a banner on top of your page????
