  • I love Stephanie Mills - awesome musician. But then, so is this! Both are FAB!!

  • i love stephanie mills but this is even better!

  • This sounds a whole lot better on my ipod:-)..........Great tune

  • TELL IT LIKE IT IS GIRL..... <3 LOVE THIS MUSIC GROUP!

  • Paris Gray did the vocals on quite a few late 80`s & 90`s British tracks.

  • Great Band !!

  • I couldnt get enuff of this group in high school

  • kevin, love ya man

  • The group the Chimes and Inner City, their music styles are very similar ,listen to the Chimes song called 123, and tell me what you think! could they be the same group with a name change with a new lead singer~

  • Fall time bike rides. Cool and breezy

  • Great Band !!!!

  • I like Stephanie's version better

  • Thanks for the upload

  • This remix was done by Frankie Knuckles AND David Morales.

  • This bitch has weak vocals, and the original is 10000000X better than this garbage, this girl cant sing at all, UGHHHHHH no wonder they didnt make it out of 1990

  • It's a Frankie Knuckles remix

  • verry good 1990

  • i meant DMX sampled it not the other way round

  • also sampled on the DMX song When Im Nothing off The Great Depression album

  • i have the 12" vinyl, it is excellent, how do i upload a mp3 sound file

  • this is one of inner citys greatest song and shows a more soulful side to their energetic house dance music, very much more a garage sound.

you can find this on their paradise remixed album.

  • WOW!! That reminded me of a restaurant I worked in once that no longer exists called "MUSWELL'S" Cafe Bar, Whiteladiies Road, Bristol. 1992/93. Hard work but some fond memories. But someone should sort the sound out.

  • brings back the best memories.......happy times..

  • Sensational.....

  • This is beautiful! Soulful and sexy!

  • I have been looking for this video forever, thanx so much for posting :-)

  • One of Inner City's most under rated song covers!

  • I really like this 'dance' ballad song. The drumcomputer is super. And Paris can sing this tune very easily.

  • they cant win the orignal, still good though.

  • @Mikanseizin1 I think they surpass it, but hey...

  • Stephanie Mills, watch out!

  • classic house music!! Yay perfect tune!!

  • Great stuff, just imagine this kind of quality used to get into the charts. These days it would not because of those awful TV song progs....

  • This version is ok but stephanie mills version is fire inner city did a good job though

  • this cannot even touch stephanies version the original isthe best

  • classic house

  • bass?

  • I like this song and video. Thanks!!!

  • Wow these were the days... I like this version better than the original.

  • Juillet14, you must be a yougin' to say something like that?

  • I dig Steph's version but I give the edge to this mix.

  • This version is okay, mostly because of the drum line, but the vocals are sub-par - at best, particularly the background. Stephanie's version all the way.

  • wow, id forgotten about this.

    Faaaaaantastic.

  • By 'better quality' I was referring to audio quality.

I've heard the Inner City version in its true form and this is like listening to it with styro-foam cups over the ears and the bass turned right down.

The Stephanie Mills one is alright, but I guess I took a liking to this one more.

  • Great tune! But does anyone have a better quality version??

  • Yes. It's on Stephanie Mills' 1979 Mtume/Lucas produced LP "What Cha Gonna Do With My Lovin'". Much better quality!

  • A tune this good it doesn't need a bass.

  • this is one of Inner City's songs (cover) that's closest to my heart, if it wasn't that i love Big Fun so much! and i agree with nineballfreek, miss the bass here, it's so big it's fundamental to this track

  • What a classic, you don't get tunes this good anymore....

  • best house track of all time.

  • Agreed, outstanding choon but where is the:

    a) Bass on this recording

    b) The DEF mix dub on the end

I'll have to dig out the vinyl and post up the full mix

  • I cant believe that it is TWENTY years ago since this was in the clubs,MY GOD!!HOW TIME FLIES!,where has twenty years gone???????,it only seems like yesterday.

This old skool tune really (i mean really) took me back to when i was an 18 year old.

There is something special about this mix that i love so much.

  • another video music box classic...3:30 in the afternoon after school got out... this joint makes ya wana put on a pin stripe suit wit a class of henny an a bad chick on ya arm in a club...feel me on that

  • still has that clubbing energy - watch some arsehole fxx it up

  • Mmmm love this remake.. that chick is sexy as hell

  • Does Franckie Knuckles have his hands in this???? Sounds very much like his style

  • You got a great ear. Frankie and David Morales (his remix partner) did this one together. A real homage to the Philly sound...

  • @oldschooljunkie it is a Def mix production.

  • @oldschooljunkie indeed. this is the def radio mix, later included on repressings of inner city's first album. frankie knuckles and david morales remixed the song into a house classic. originally performed by stephanie mills, inner city makes the song all their own.

  • @LatinoFlava thanks man! Yes, I knew the original by Stephanie Mills (and love it too, Stephanie Mills is amazing!), but I have to say this is one of the very few covers (maybe even the only one) that I prefer to the original....Usually I hate covers, but this one is the bomb!!

  • @oldschooljunkie Yes, you are right. It is better, way better, than the original.

  • @oldschooljunkie You definitely know your stuff, this totally sounds like Frankie Knuckles and the David Moreles music from that incredible era.

  • @oldschooljunkie Yes, he did. Also David Morales. That explains the 'classic' feel, doesn't it? A superb production!

  • diddo

  • Great group! Great tune!!

    Thanks for posting.

  • This track never gets old.

  • Great tune from sometime around 1989 or 1990.Brilliant.

  • absolutely the shit.

  • Rather Great!

  • Waaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of its time :)

  • This 1989 R&B/jazz track is an outstanding remake of the Stephanie Mills original version from 1979. The groove is so smooth, along with the delightful vocals, high end music, without a doubt!!

  • Chill out "ochentoso"!!!

  • Inner City and Ten City were THE house groups of all time...both produced consistently top quality tunes that still sound good today, almost 20 years later. This and Pennies From Heaven were Inner City's finest moments IMO, not forgetting of course Big Fun, which started it all off.

  • WOW never seen this video.

Good Life killed Big Fun summer of '89, and Byron Stingley of Ten City was actually featured in an Inner City track - Till We Meet Again! Beautiful voice. Also note that Kevin Saunderson is one of the Belleville Three (along with Juan Atkins and Derrick May). THAT is why Inner City was so successful. Glad your into house!

  • Aural heaven

  • This is a typical top quality DEF MIX remix. You can find a similar sound on "It's hard sometimes" Frankie Knuckles and various remixes by both DJ's. My personal fave' is "Stay this way" Brand New Heavies (Morales remix). The added keyboards mirror the early 90's remixes from both DM & FK.

And Where loves lives, followed by Space cowboy and what about Unbreak my heart? Top draw from start to finish... buy the DEF MIX TRIPLE CD I say!

  • The hot shit!

  • Stellar remix and additional production by Grammy winning house producers Frankie Knuckles and David Morales. Has the Philly Sound updated for the 90's. Exceptional !!!

  • Gr8 remake of a Stephanie Mills classic with the Inner City stamp on it...thank you for this post..Its been a MINUTE...Wow!!!

  • that look shes giving uz ..oooh. Fabulous song! Great extraloud

  • OMG OMG OMG, my head is about to explode. Thanks for posting this song. I'm sad that they don't make good music like this anymore... --D

  • what a tune, what a great group, you can noy beat an old classic, timeless,

  • dmx has done a version

  • this is so under rated what a come down tune viva hacienda LEEDS

  • Only a couple 1000 hits. Sad. This is their best tune, in my opinion. It's just that it's mellow, and slow tunes don't pack dance floors.

  • Could'nt agree more.....

  • you read my mind. great son i listen too and get my friends sick of cause they cannot get with the sound inner city has to this day. great song, glad i am not the only one who still appreciates it and what the group has given us all.peace.

  • Thanks for the post....i love this song

  • Thanks for sharing !!! i love this song when I whose young :-)

    grazie 1000

    Andrea

  • konacnoooooooo!finaly!i cant beleive i find it!my god!20 years i`am tryin to find this song!thanx so so so much for postin`kiss

  • when frankie crocker came back to 'BLS in the fall of '89 after a 5 year absence he wore the extended version of this out

  • 'inner city'what can i say 'they were the business''loved all there tracks'.

  • Does anyone out there know if there are any more versions of this song out there besides this and the Stephanie Mills version? I remember hearing one other version of this song on the radio around 1988/89,a really cool version of this song but I could never find out who the artist was.would anyone know? or is inner city the only one?

  • Look no further. This is the one. I was spinning lots of records back in those years, so I should know.

  • WOW!!!WOW!!!WOW!! I've been trying to find this video on YouTube for 2 years. Thanks for posting this!!! This is probably one of their most definitive songs they released. It was released as a single after the 1st four singles from their debut album blew up the charts. I have the Import Release of this single with the extended version and a special Master Reese remix by Kevin Saunderson. Thank you for taking me back to my Army days in Europe...

  • So good to hear this song!!!

  • brings back such good memories of care free times thanks for this

  • Yes!!!

  • Thanks for sharing! Brings back so many great memories.....

  • this is wonderful, danced to this in NYC Frankie Knuckles SF or SFB ( sound factory)

  • David Morales (who mixed this) & Frankie Knuckles always know how to make classy, well crafted mixes. I think they've remixed everyone larger act in the business active during the 90's. Madonna, Michael, Janet, Mariah, PSB, Spice Girls & even Eric Clapton to name a few.

  • homejazz thanks bro i need this 1 keep posting im dancing.

  • When people think about Inner City - they always forget about this track. I always thought it was one of their best. Good post :-)

  • Love this song!!!!

  • sorry meant nearly

  • Brilliant! Can't believe it's early 20 years ago!!!

  • Class, was only listening to this on CD yesterday ! Thanks !
