Thanks to Neil for conducting a proper interview. I do recall him specifically asking Ron Paul about the newsletters during the last election and RP was not happy with the question at the time. Apparently Cavuto realizes now that this is old news and he is giving RP a fair shot with things by being impartial and not antagonistic.

In investigating this I can't find anything about such things. Now compare that with his legacy. It simply doesn't add up! Speculation is running high that the real author of the racist material was Murray Rothbard, who died in 1995 and thus, sadly, can not come clean. While not a racist himself, Rothbard was a political type who may have been looking for a libertarian/radical right coalition to counterbalance the perceived radical left elements of libertarianism. At the time, Ron Paul was an ex-Congressman with no intention of running again... why not use a friend's lame duck newsletter to experiment with?

It really confuses me when people say that Paul should "come clean" with who wrote the letters, but he probably can't prove anything and would therefore be open to a libel suit or somebody might threaten to accuse Paul of being the author in retaliation saying, "he's only accusing me to protect himself!"
