@randrianabel yes i know the mehari was imported in the USA I have a 1969 mehari us spec car and it still run good. The dyane6 was to but not so many numders I've been told.
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
So nice to see many Citroens in North America...! Makes me think that if I'll ever be able to go to the US with my DS for tourism I'll have some friends there!
In '74 my dad bought a 1973 Citroen SM that served him well as a daily driver for 2 yrs. But he took care of all maintenance himself. Inc. the frequently needed carburetor syncing of the 3 deuces.
What impressed him most, was the 4 incredibly huge inboard brake rotors (like race cars), that could stop this beast from it's top speed dead straight w/o so much as a squeal.
The brake pedal was just a button. With Tight Speed Sensitive Steering it handle more like an Indy car than a street car! :D
@alanbstard4 Old Citroens are very reliable, my friend BX has already 700 000 km without any bigger break. I had to do some repairs in mine but previous owner was at fault.
great! in aug 57 I saw my first ds at wheelus ab libya px, it was practically on the ground. The owner started it up and it came up to driving level :) I drove a 2cv in 97 in england - fun fun! and lastly I saw a truckette eons ago in Davenport Iowa, the driver was smiling - I wonder why? :)

I love the names on the licence plates.
Not sure it's a citroen at 4:34, but a Peugeot cabriolet.
Renault 4L at 7:10.
Not seen any DS break. Even in France they are so rare.

I wonder how reliable they are? Beautiful cars

Hi,
The DS and 2CV are very reliable. The SM is better now if the engine is rebuilt with newer parts.
Cheers,
Phil.

Citroën made and still makes great cars, I always thought these cars were not built for the North American market.
Like Citroën Peugeot and Renault tried to sell their vehicles in the US and Canada but were not very successful.
KevinRexrod 2 years ago
they were built for the North American market, but in the case of the US, certain features at the time, such as the moving headlights were illegal
Also the small engine was not held in favour of Americans. I admit the engines should have been more powerful, as Citroen conceded
