I don't reinact (Spokane, Wa sucks for that kind of thing) but I've made half a dozen colonial outfits and wear them often just for the hell of it. Been thinking of moving East where I wouldn't be the only one. I've also ridden my motorcycle in full garb. Haven't put a bucket on my head though. Lol
Have you thought of getting an English or a Dutch Lobstertail helmet from the 16th century for head-protection when you ride that anachronistic conveyance? Although a bit old, they are more stylish than a bucket.
well, (sorry my english), I like to dress those XVIII century shirts to clean my musket or do some anothers works at home, they're very confortable...
I get the same thing at living history events. and some 25 year-old drunk red neck asked if I'm sitting bull when I am dressed as a longhunter. well thats why we do this stuff, to educate the public.
lol im 14 and work at conner prairie as a fur trader. when my brother picks me up from work we always stop somewhere to eat and i love the reactions on the cashiers face when i order a bigmac or a roast beef foot long!
Hi, I bought a tricorn hat $35 and other goodies for the Wash. DC Tea Party 4/15/09. The hat is so comfortable! Everyone loved it. It is beautiful and made so well. Thanks
Out in California, where we have little reenactment but lots of Renaissance Faires, the questions I always get are "Are you going to faire?", "Are you in a play?", "Are you the queen?", and occasionally unprintable queries about the state of my decoletage.
the best one i got was when i went to my high school in my 18th c. garb-- shift, stays, polonaise gown, petticoat, period accurate shoes, and my ostrich feather hat-- and someone asked me if i was amish.
I LOVE Dressing Like that, I have bought just about EVERYTHING on ur website. I am in a group called FCF where u hav 2 dress up like 1700 people. Its is sooo fun. anyways glad to see u on youtube. I have 1 question. Do you think Your RevWar Continental Coat is as good as it says. Please respond.
Thanks for the comment. The Continental coat is new and we have not gotten any comments about it yet, but if folks respond to it like our other coats I am sure it will be quite popular.
This is classic! Anyone who lives and works in the area of VA. That we live in completely gets this. I work @ a James River plantation and have done many of these things in my colonial period attire (some of which I've purchased from JTS!) and the reactions can be a lot of fun! hehe Thanks for that...it gave me a very good laugh! :)

If you dress like that all the time, why not get a horse? ....more authentic.

The ultimate reenactor argument: If they had had it, they would have used it!

I wear my reenactment often without being at a reenactment event. But using a wooden bucket for your automatic horse,is brilliant!

lol Thats pretty funny. As a civil war reenactor, I get the same question and even more that are, for lack of a better word, stupid.

I get the same here in SoCal - either Ren Faire, or "are you supposed to be a pirate?"
Oh well.
