Man the first edition looks rely cool the other one looks great as well but man the first editions are a little better looking. But still this new one looks rely bad ass, and looks great on his al mode, and the window on the new one looks awesome as well. And the transformation look pretty entertaining as well a lot of panel’s love that on a transformer is just brings more joy to the figure. Hell yeah this guy looks amazing on robot mode, well hope I see this guy on the stores.
the thing that made me rage at RID was the proportions, not the paint apps (though those transparent windows do kind of suck) He has gorilla arms, and I'm really put off by all the kibble hanging off his legs and back
Got to say i love him. Im not so hot on the friction pegs that hold the arms together but they aren't super loose. Plus i just LOVE when vehicle panels fold up to create the arms. I dunno why, i just get a kick out of it whenever a figure transforms that way.
I would go with the one that looks better and I mean the first edition one. It looks better, even though the lights aren't as big as the show version. But I like it better than the the one with the false chest piece. Not a big fan of the fake chest pieces. Acception for Optimus Prime, though.

I must admit, i love Prime's re-imagining of Cliffjumper. I think i still prefer the First Edition, especially its tinted windows, but this one does have its advantages like those nice paint apps.
I have the FE and I love it I will be getting the RID version to only because I like have all the figures I don't care for it that much as I don't care for the RID prime the FE is way better
Now, as for the figure. Personally, I'll take a little size discrepancy with the CG models if it means less cheating with the parts. But I can see why you're defending the RID version, the initial fandom reaction was overwhelmingly negative, and probably unfairly so. This figure has its strong points, so thank you for the fair analysis. :)

@aidzo5999 They're going to release a modified version of FE cliffjumper as Terrorcon Cliffjumper. Missing a horn, lots of Dark Energon spots, darker red coloration.

@peaugh arcee is much smaller compared to cliffjumper. bumblebee comes up to about cliffjumper's shoulder, and arcee is slightly taller than bumblebee's waist. so arcee doesn't have any size cheating in her transformation.

The FE one does a lot of things I like better, but honestly this one does not at all look like a bad figure. His engineering kind of reminds me of the Autobot Bros form the original RID.

I'm disappointed in the toy designers on this one. The whole point of Transformers is a vehicle, and all of it's parts, become a robot. Here the vehicle folds away revealing a robot inside. Not only is it a "shellformer", but it has the fake roof, windshield, headlights, and wheels molded into Cliffjumper's body, where the real parts are hidden on his back. Now the first edition is obsolete and expensive. Too bad.
Honestly, though, could they have picked a worse subtitle than Robots In Disguise? I hate that cartoon. I hope this line doesn't suffer from the legacy of that crappy show and toyline (actually to be fair I never have seen the toys in person but they just look stupid)

I still preferr the First Edition. RID isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Is there waist articulation on either? I don't remember seeing that covered, and I always skip past the transformations so I don't spoil it for myself.

Hang on. Cliffjumper's gonna be a playable character in Fall of Cybertron, and he has a head based on his Prime self. Maybe the hammer/gun weapon is gonna be his default weapon in the game.

@JKimproductions910 Alot of toys that didn't make a widespread appearance at retail, like HA Mudflap, RTS Windcharger/ Grapple/ Lugnut etc. eventually showed up at TJ Maxx, Marshalls or Ross stores at greatly discounted prices. I'm hoping that these FE's and later editions of Prime figs. show up there, 'cause toys just don't get shipped up here too often, and when they do, eBay scalpers or lucky collectors scoop them up.
Why are people still bashing this figure? I have to admit I was pretty pissed when the FE were cancelled but this is a pretty nice Cliffjumper. Now about the Voyager Optimus....
So ben, when is the figure for Cliffcharger coming out? LOL :P That would actually be an interesting fan made custom, your slip of the tongue might actually inspire something cool :)
What I hate the most about this figure are the long arms. He and RiD Optimus have orangutan arms. Add to that the hollow limbs and transformation cheat and this is an all around terrible figure. Even without seeing the vastly superior FE Clifjumper I'd still hate this.
I must admit, he quickly grew on me after seeing some reviews. A good camera really helps bring out the nice points of the figure, and really the only thing missing is the triple-barreled handular justice (well, affordably, anyway).
Were the FE just to good quality?I really can only think Hasbro canceled it as a freaking cut saving cost even after most likely making a lot of them already. It just feels like these toys are just not as good in quality as the first edition except going for the gimmicky weapon over a show accurate design, I am not the type of person to complain about accuracy. But when you prove you can make the awesome FE figures it just makes me upset that they release figures that just look worse to me
Hm, when i first saw reviews of the RID version of this guy, i wasn't really impressed, but you make a convincing perspective on this one. Sadly I can't get the FE figs, since Hasbro skipped the UK completely with those.
I might look into getting some of the RiD figures, i think i might go for the japanese versions if i can, for some reason, I just don't like the red transluscent weapons the american/EU versions seem to be gettig. only question is where to get them from, TFS or BBTS
@SolidSnake2017 depends on how you look at it, the japanese will come with little figures that become their weapons from the show, and the powerizers have the weird clear plastic and mechtech-y lookin things
i dont think thats in scale with arcee because in the episode where it was a flashback and BB & cliff were carrying arcee out he seemed bigger but who knows

I'm actually warming up to RID Cliff, but man. Those arms are ridiculous. I can't stand robots with no biceps. And he's missing the square pauldrons, instead having big ol' wheels there.

@starscream7755 Correct. The rest of the First Edition line has been cancelled, and online retailers were never sent any stock. Your only option is eBay, and prices have already exploded.
Peaugh, do you know anyone who had a wing break off 1st ed Starscream. The wing broke off the swivel (think that is the joint name) and came off. The wing itself is all in one piece and it can still fit on thanks to a little slit on the rotating part that allows the wing to stay on in both modes it just can easily fall off.
Anyways I hate that these never appear in Canada, just went to Toys R us today to hopefully get bulhead, sadly no and just saw a wall of DOTM toys, mostly the first wave :(

Arcee's supposed to be smaller than cliff...the detail in her FE deluxe is amazing, but it cost her the scaling against other characters. Her RiD mold might make her scale better with the FE versions though, if the size decrease applies. Great review though.. the Cliff looks better than I though but not sure if I still wanna get it ..Wheeljack and Soundwave first!
RID looks fine, other than "its not 1st edition" or non japanese import. RID looks a lot more stream lined and seems cheaper than putting out 2x - 3x as much for a 1st edition.
He really looks better in my opinion since he looks slimmer with the big red feet. Question is what do you prefer? black or gray, clear windshield or dark windshield, wide chest or slim chest, triple barrel or mace. Downfall for me is those peg holes and it doesn't look like he has a ninety degree angle at the elbow. Also, they didn't have to put those wheels on the hamstring area.

Why are people still bashing this figure? I have to admit I was pretty pissed when the FE were cancelled but this is a pretty nice Cliffjumper. Now about the Voyager Optimus....

What I hate the most about this figure are the long arms. He and RiD Optimus have orangutan arms. Add to that the hollow limbs and transformation cheat and this is an all around terrible figure. Even without seeing the vastly superior FE Clifjumper I'd still hate this.

I must admit, he quickly grew on me after seeing some reviews. A good camera really helps bring out the nice points of the figure, and really the only thing missing is the triple-barreled handular justice (well, affordably, anyway).

Were the FE just to good quality?I really can only think Hasbro canceled it as a freaking cut saving cost even after most likely making a lot of them already. It just feels like these toys are just not as good in quality as the first edition except going for the gimmicky weapon over a show accurate design, I am not the type of person to complain about accuracy. But when you prove you can make the awesome FE figures it just makes me upset that they release figures that just look worse to me

Hm, when i first saw reviews of the RID version of this guy, i wasn't really impressed, but you make a convincing perspective on this one. Sadly I can't get the FE figs, since Hasbro skipped the UK completely with those.
I might look into getting some of the RiD figures, i think i might go for the japanese versions if i can, for some reason, I just don't like the red transluscent weapons the american/EU versions seem to be gettig. only question is where to get them from, TFS or BBTS

I'm actually warming up to RID Cliff, but man. Those arms are ridiculous. I can't stand robots with no biceps. And he's missing the square pauldrons, instead having big ol' wheels there.
His legs look so much cooler, though. Those silver kneecaps and toes!

Peaugh, do you know anyone who had a wing break off 1st ed Starscream. The wing broke off the swivel (think that is the joint name) and came off. The wing itself is all in one piece and it can still fit on thanks to a little slit on the rotating part that allows the wing to stay on in both modes it just can easily fall off.
Anyways I hate that these never appear in Canada, just went to Toys R us today to hopefully get bulhead, sadly no and just saw a wall of DOTM toys, mostly the first wave :(

Arcee's supposed to be smaller than cliff...the detail in her FE deluxe is amazing, but it cost her the scaling against other characters. Her RiD mold might make her scale better with the FE versions though, if the size decrease applies. Great review though.. the Cliff looks better than I though but not sure if I still wanna get it ..Wheeljack and Soundwave first!

RID looks fine, other than "its not 1st edition" or non japanese import. RID looks a lot more stream lined and seems cheaper than putting out 2x - 3x as much for a 1st edition.

He really looks better in my opinion since he looks slimmer with the big red feet. Question is what do you prefer? black or gray, clear windshield or dark windshield, wide chest or slim chest, triple barrel or mace. Downfall for me is those peg holes and it doesn't look like he has a ninety degree angle at the elbow. Also, they didn't have to put those wheels on the hamstring area.

if there is ever a release of the ferrari from DOTM, there is at this time no reason to believe he's not going to be called "dino".
then again, in the movie's credits, when the voice actor for Q rolls bye, it states Q/Wheeljack . . .
but nothing is stoping you from buying a ferrari transformer ( if ever released ) and just calling him mirage ;-)

but yeah, it sucks that ferrari gives permission to use a car in the movie, but not for toys, then again ROTF deluxe jolt ( if i am not mistaken ) was not a licensed chevy volt either.
