  • Off topic... what kinda of a gi is that? It looks more like a vest. I've never seen that before.

  • @Aramis2000 Century used to make a "tournament cut" gi, and I modified my heavyweight gi to mimic it. Basically, I cut it at the waist and sewed it up.

  • Pretty good tiger form. Much smoother than most Kenpo forms I see (seems closer to the original Chinese version). The tiger claw strikes are being cut short, and the foot positions in the bow stances are wrong (according to traditional Chinese standards), but the horse stance is good, and alignment/structure is correct. Nice attention to detail.

  • I learned this form from Mark Miller as well. He's an excellent teacher. I began my karate studies in 1980 at Jay T. Will Karate studio, but Mark is the one who helped me to get my black belt.

  • Even though the set is called Tiger Crane from Hung Gar Gung-fu (Fu Hok in Cantonese), there are other animal and elements (Earth, Water, Wind, Fire) to the set. Most of what you are doing if not all in the video is not "tiger." Fact is you left out the 10 claw portion. FYI.

  • Beautifully performed..I was taught this form by Mark Miller, 9th dan, in the 80's at which time it also contained the crane form. The Tiger and Crane are now broken apart...I still practice it with the 2 combined. Anyway, I like your website and other video's you have posted.

  • This is very mech like the Tiger Crane I study in Hung Ga. Nice to see it added to Kenpo. I have become a big fan of Kenpo. The traditional styles not the waterdowned styles I see so many places today. But this is Nice.

  • @tashermdog,

Thanks for the comments. As far as I know, this was added to kenpo in the 1960s. It has been a part of kenpo since I began studying in 1990.

  • Dave,

You have really solid basics and have a knack for detail. I like the fact that you take your time and focus on technique throughout. God Bless brother.

  • @seabrook07 Thanks for the comments, Jamie!

  • it does remind me alot of hung gars tiger/crane form. are you going to do a video of the applications?

  • It is similar to the Hung Gar forms that I have seen. Probably not as to an application video.

  • That was nice. Who introduced this into Tracy's Kenpo? Puts me in mind of Book Set.

    PEACE

  • I believe this form was introduced into Kenpo by James Wing Woo. He also brought us Book Set.

  • From Hung Gar?

    Very well done.

  • Thank you.

  • not bad
