In line 25:53, I think God was referring to the way salt water fish cannot live in fresh water and vice-versa. In estuaries, salt water and fresh water DO mix, so he could not have been talking about that. Though there are some fish that can live in both salt water and fresh water, for example Salmon.I am not an expert but I think that they are very rare and may not have existed at the time that the Koran was revealed. God may have created those fish centuries after revealing the Koran.
In line 55:19, I think God was referring to the land that blocks the Red Sea and the Mediterranean (where the Suez Canal is located), not the Straits of Gibraltar. There is a much more obvious barrier at Suez, made of land so it resonates better, especially with the immediate audience of the Koran, who were Arabs and might have been faniliar with this natural land bridge as it is adjacent to Arabia.

Yes the things can be interpreted in many ways but there is no statement in the Qur'an which can be directly contradicting to proven scientific phenomena.

Let's see some purely scientific fact to prove that this isn't just some play of the light, friend. I see similar things happening in freshwater lakes. I even saw this happen in the great Salt Lake in Utah. It's all an illusion.
So, by that reasoning and my personal observation, there is a visual illusion at play here. And I would like to be proven wrong. :)

@ReverendPopeFoxyFox i remember seeing a documentary, i think this is near the amazon or something, but its got to do with one particular underwater current that makes the dirtier or darker water stay on one side, i know its weak, but i do remember they are actually two different colours, not an illusion, but it has a scientific explanation

@wickednesspluss I just saw a documentary the other night about some underwater caverns that showed fresh water sitting on top of salty water. So I think I have been proven wrong. I'll look into that documentary about the Amazon.
So it's something about the salinated water being heavier than the fresh water. Thanks, dude. I enjoy knowing that I had wrong information and being corrected on it. And that's not sarcasm, believe it or not! :)

In line 25:53, I think God was referring to the way salt water fish cannot live in fresh water and vice-versa. In estuaries, salt water and fresh water DO mix, so he could not have been talking about that. Though there are some fish that can live in both salt water and fresh water, for example Salmon.I am not an expert but I think that they are very rare and may not have existed at the time that the Koran was revealed. God may have created those fish centuries after revealing the Koran.

In line 55:19, I think God was referring to the land that blocks the Red Sea and the Mediterranean (where the Suez Canal is located), not the Straits of Gibraltar. There is a much more obvious barrier at Suez, made of land so it resonates better, especially with the immediate audience of the Koran, who were Arabs and might have been faniliar with this natural land bridge as it is adjacent to Arabia.

No modern science has discovered any barrier. This is wishful thinking. Either you have water layers or land. I have seen the Atlantic and the Mediterranean come together and mix in Gibraltar. Being South African I have seen the different colours of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans due to different salinity - but they mix. Quite happily. No Allah is stopping them.
Some vague, poetic verses don't make up for precise science.

The nature of science is never to stand still and simply accept. Religion's concept is: stand still and accept.
If we would take the stand of religion, we would still live at the level of the 1st century and the Koran would never have appeared. Think about it.

And i no very well how vast is Arabic, many many leaders and scholars change the meaning while translating and it is found in some places with Harun Yahya (its only translation of exact world misguides, words are not changed) but not with Dr.Zakir Naik... He tells u the meanings but he don't change the words.. Kindly make it clear..

You speak Arabic so you know daha is a verb and the last haa is "it". So Allah "egged" it - the Earth. The Koran does not mean or mean or say this. You need to change the words of the Koran to arrive at this conclusion.

If you want to find the origin of the Koran's creation story, read the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Enkidu, or, if you want to know where the fresh water and salt water "barrier" came from, the Enuma Elish.

So I went to the site you mentioned and had to really laugh. These idiots are confusing the scientific layer of the Pycnocline Zone with the colloquial term barrier. The Pycnocline Zone is another name for the Transition Zone. The zone where the different layers of varying salinity and temperature mix. And that's why some people call it a barrier, to make it simple.
I could not find any proof from NASA, except on meteorites. Looks as though Al-Najjar is a bit of a simpleton.
