if your watching this and are unfamilar with The BlueRidge Rangers Album FIND IT AND TAKE A LISTEN I recomend on vinyl, better sound. But CD would be ok I guess.
The 1st version of this much-recorded song that I ever heard was by Jo Stafford. My parents had an album containing that recording. The 2nd version I heard was on an album by Gerry & the Pacemakers that one of my friends had when we were 12 in 1964. They sang that they were going to see the Beatles at the Bayou! And this recording by the Blue Ridge Rangers was the 3rd one I remember hearing.
SORRY DUDE YOU ARE 100 PERCENT INCORRECT!!! This album (The Blue Ridge Rangers) was released in '73, a year after the breakup of CCR, John Fogerty played all instruments on the record. zero points for you :)
berno89. Sorry, this is John Fogerty. He wrote 99.9% of CCR songs. He wrote, sang, & played lead guitar on all CCR songs. This song is from his solo album, The Blue Ridge Rangers, all cover songs. Released in 1973 after CCR broke up. But yes, he WAS and always will be the driving force of CCR. And to this day releases #1 albums. Some better than CCR albums, if you can believe that. Go Johnny go.
John Cameron Fogerty got real fucked up by Zantz and his record company FANTASY.
So Fogerty was forbidden to play his own songs for more then 20 years. Then he started Blue Ridge Rangers where he alone played all of the instruments.Raoul Zantz is a pain in the ass to kill CREATIVITY and cut off a MANS OWN AIR!!You might have heard Fogerty singing "Zants cant dance but he'll steal your money , watch him coz he rob you blind..." well now you know how grounded that is.

My father played Hank Williams all the time when I was growing up. Always listened to the roigisnal, then loved when Fogerty covered this! Great job!

@Riot241 - It's too damned bad most radio stations won't touch it with a ten-foot pole!

Always loved the long ending on this song....

I agree. Great playout, with that simple Q&A guitar riff, dancing piano and pulsing groove. Guaranteed to make any foot tap time, at the very least.

Although I like Hanks version, I have to say I like Fogerty's better. He actually sounds like he's cajun, even though he's not.

Do you know John Fogerty? If not how can you judge him. Maybe you are an asshole!

Yeah, John Fogerty is an amazing musician. No doubts about that. It's just too bad that he is an asshole of a person.
But I am sure that he cares what I think...
