If you have either the PS3 or 360 version AND you're connected via either PSN or Xbox Live, then you should be able to download the Boss Battle Track Pack for free. Look around in the PS Store or Xbox Marketplace, depending on your console.

I had just bought the PS3 version but I was playing the PS2 version for months. On that version I had a 40ms lag, causing the notes to come a bit before the actual music. I hadn't adjusted to the lagless setting of the PS3 so I was hitting notes late as if I was playing the PS2 version.

Regardless that this song is on medium, and I'm on expert, it's just such a fun song to play.

I don't understand why every YouTuber needs to put me in one difficulty category. Yes, I FC'd this song on Medium. I have 5*ed this, FC'd Soothsayer and Slash Guitar Battle on Hard and have about 30 on-disc Expert FC's. I like all playing all difficulties (albeit for different reasons). I must agree with you that this is very fun on Medium.

You obviously misread what I typed, anyone can be on expert, which means some people will say "LOL Y U DOIN MEDIUM SONG WEN UR ON EXPERT???", but that doesn't matter, because this song is a small challenge and it's fun to play.

on the video at 2:40 u got 195667...did u get a higher score at that point on the scorehero?... just wondering cuz i got 196876 at that point..my high is 408884.. got 195276 on that run... choked when i got the 196876...

This run was pretty bad and even my re-FC (3rd or 4th all platforms on SH - 410400) wasn't perfect. If I hadn't missed an easy 400 on my latest FC, I would have had 196680 at the break. Since it's only the 20% path, it seems like you got an additional squeeze somewhere on that choked run. I might just have to redo this now that I can tilt squeeze GH3 on PS3 thanks to the WT guitar. I'll definitely get 410800 but getting extra squeezes may be too much of a hassle for me.

Actually, according to the 20% squeeze path, you're 4 ticks short since the score always ends with 19xx80. It would be impressive if you pulled off a 411k run.

i can hit all the 100% activations. but the one that is hard for me is the 5th activation every thing else is right on. i can squeeze and know when to early strum. but im thinking that if i do get the optimal score that i would be at least 16 points higher than optimal becuz, the last activation the green goes about 3/4 and the path shows that the sp shuts off right away when u hit that long green note.

I used a pretty good path so unless you're good at squeezing and follow the same path, you won't be getting more. I wish you the best of luck for getting the song FC'd though.

My path is pretty close to the optimal one but I had to change some activations because I have a 1-1.5 second delay when I tilt for SP. It's because I got the TAC adapter, so I'm playing with my PS2 SG instead of the crappy PS3 LP. This caused me to hardly get any squeezes and activate early a few times (holding up the guitar before you get half a bar of SP does get you an immediate activation. Search "slowhero" or "bradleyzoo" for optimal paths of all songs on each difficulty.

thanks for the tip :). Helped alot. I am aiming for 1st place on Surfing With The Alien on hard difficulty. I just keep missing on like Solo2d or something O__O Also, believe it or not, i play with a gh2 xplorer. And somehow i manage to get a few squeezes with it. The only problem is i miss while activating. :(

You do know it's a free download, right? Anyway, it's a great song (very challenging on all difficulties) and as long as you have a high speed internet connection for your 360, it's a no brainer.

I would have choked so hard in the ending parts :D Did you choke? And in general, did this take long? Including your first FC of this.

I choked twice on the HOPO's at about 4:28 and a few times during solo R. When I decided to strum everything in and around these sections I didn't have much trouble getting the FC. I probably choked the most on the YB trill after the fast blues.

The only hard part (that made me start over a bunch of times) are the fast blues at 2:44. I played this about 10 times yesterday and a bunch more today. Took a few hours but it's nothing compared to TTFAF. Re-FC was 5 attempts after the initial FC.
