The series ended when he thought she was dead and then seen her again and while seeing her her heart started to beat the same way it did when she had his dead girlfriends heart. Shorter terms it proved that the way she felt was real and not because she had his girlfriend heart. She doubted she loved him because of her heart that belong to his dead girlfriend. But in the end when she got another operation, she had a different heart and it beated when she saw him again.
