If you have Fang for this fight you don't even need a medic (SLOW FTMFW) just have Sazh for the buffs and Snow to block his attacks with sentinel and his Godly HP stat. Stagger him before he transforms 9easy if you didn't upgrade your weapons then knock him into air and slice his ass for an easy 5 star

My team was lead by Fang with Sazh and Hope backing me up. SAB/SYN/SYN plus COM/RAV/RAV with some medics and sentinel lead paradigms made it pretty easy.
I used Sazh, Snow, and Vanille and basically used Snow as a Sentinel to take the punishment as Vanille debuffed him with imperil, poison, deshell, and deprotect. Then I switched to Delta Attack once Sazh buffed everyone and slowly sapped away his health. You're basically turning his defense into your offense and turning his offense against him with the debuffs. That's how the turtle beat the hare, slow and steady.

@DachshundLazerMan Have a defensive paradigm for when he's in offensive shift, a healing paradigm for his defensive shift, and and offensive paradigm for when he's curing himself. But, be careful, once he's down past 20% health he heals himslef every chance he gets, so just lay into him like there's no tomorrow. Your health is fine if you do it right. Good luck. ^_^

When trying to get him staggered, triple RAV(tri-disaster) will be fine if you have the right party. Once he is staggered, switch to each COM COM RAV(aggression), or COM COM COM(cerberus) and keep his ass launched at all times. For healing and defense, I used the same paradigm, MED SYN SEN(protection).
With Lightning, Sahz and Snow, in that set up I beat him in 2 minutes 36 seconds.
Guys , use snow , sazh , and lightning . Ferst use snow as sentinel , sazh as synergies , lightning as medic . sazh will buff al while lightning heals .. Den when cid goes guard mode , all ur characters change to ravager to stagger him . Den change to aggression . Two comanders and one ravager . Den hit him full out and he will die without him turning to second state or using eidolon . Hope this help . Like tis if u do :)

I used Lightning, Fang and Sazh. Started by buffing the party and nerfing Cid, then get into the offensive with 2 Ravagers and a Commando. When health starts to get low, use Fang's Sentinel and Lightning's Medic, while Sazh can be either a Commando to keep the chain up or a Synergist to buff up the party. Pretty much the same strategy for any bosses or High HP enemies.

Start off with ur Syn buffs. Buff up big time then switch to full Rav and alternate every 2 rotations between that and ur relentless asault. will build up a quick multiplier. keep doing that over and over
when he goes defensive (buff up)
when he goes offensive (go defensive n heal with Lightning)
woo i used lightning/fang/vanille and pretty much had fang as a commando everytime, i didn't worry about buffs/debuffs the only paradigms i used were rav/com/med and med/com/com so his stagger meter wouldnt drop to 0% then at 276% i summoned odin, her went into guard as soon as i staggered him but soon her came out shortly into gestalt and with zantetsuken i hit him for 856% damage killed him, and 5 starred his annoying ass >:3

I have Hope and Snow on my team to make the battle a bit slower but easier to get through.. I wasn't expecting a doom counter...So I said fuck it and watched this video. :) About to retry the bastard.
@ZetsuKazuku i had him down to about 20k health when vanille, my medic, got dazed and i didn't notice until she wasn't healing anymore but by then it was too late :/
Used Light Fang and Vanille, did it in like 3 mins. Use shrouds at the start of the fight. Start with Rav/Sab/Sab and get everything you can before switching to Rav/Rav/Sen. Fang will hold Raines' attention while Light and Vanille build his stagger. With all debuffs on him and your shrouds, you can beat him before the Metamorphase. Enjoy!
@jackslimshady light vanille fang. make sure you have dispel in youre arsenal and also use medic medic sabotage on stand by. i beat him in 4 min. stagger him and it will be easy to do midair combo

Lightning as a commando? Shes WAY better as ravager, and Sahz is one of the worst commandos in the game. Sorry, I'm done criticizing now, you were right about cid being an asshole though.
I just beat him in 3mins flat. I used Lightning, Vanille and Sazh. Trick is to start with all your status elements on you before battle. I used smartbomb a lot and relentless assault, alternating with a medic. once he is about staggered unleash Odin. Get his meter all the way up then use the final special with Odin and that should do it.
you dun rly need fortisol and aegisol lol > just be maxed on the crysterium in their main roles and use lightning/snow/vanille use these paradigms > relentless assault/diversity/ruthless/scouting party/tri-disaster/discreation > no shrouds or synergists ..easy 5 stars :) > will encounter his angel of death mode but meh heal through it works for me all the time :p
@MusicManiac931 I did the same with Snow, Sazh, and Hope. Staggered him before he lost enough to stransform and air juggled his ass till he died. He would always be like an inch from landing and then Snow would launch his ass again. After 7 losses to this guy it was so satisfying to wreck him like that.
@soulreaver91 I know right, died about 8-9 times cause he kept taking out my team mates after the metamorphosis, used lightning snow and hope and buffed at the start of the fight, then just when crazy during the regen and defense stages, soon as he went into that first defense stage where he transforms I staggered him and started playing ping pong with him and the ground lol
I can stagger him within 3-5 mins into the fight, get his health low, but once he starts the poison and curse shit i lose, gonna try again using dif combo, hope it works
easy way to beat him: diversity using lightning as commando, snow as ravager and vanille medic. spam attacks on him and then when staggered switch to tireless charge. make sure to equip twin brawler bands to both snow and light. shaman marks work well on vanille.
i beat this guy before he got into wing mode while playing as hope with lightning and snow with only relentless assualt and combat clinic no eidolin aegisol fortisol
i literally could NOT defeat this guy.... used the same stragedy as these guys for the paradigms and boom! i had him staggered and dead in 2 mins 50 seconds :DD just one stagger,didn't have to summon Odin after all or anything :) Thanks!!!
So I recently fought CID and I got five stars the way I did is have light hope and vanille with three coms three ravs to stagger and three meds is what I stayed with mostly til he did seraphic ray and I debuffed him and buffed me
I just used this way and a way in the comments combined and got 5 stars. I used lightning, hope, and snow and I had it on relentless assault until everyones hp was good, then switched to rav rav rav and drove up his chain gauge. When he guarded the first time I was able to almost stagger him and I quickly summoned oden (who DID stagger him) and he died before he could even transform
@shockzz1234 This battle was tough, but I beat him. My team was Lightning, Snow, and Vannile. Snow was sentinal a lot. Vannile had to debuff him a lot. And Lightning was Com/Rav/Med most time. When he was staggered go to Com/Com/Rav and keep healing yourself too. That should help you
@shockzz1234 alright i hope this helps ( first switch fang with snow ) . second use commando and give him some hits . and once he do a recovery shift attack him with 2 ravangers and 1 healer . once ur done healing switch to 3 ravangers he shuld be guarding and staggerd then switch to 3 commando and once he begin to attack ( dont attack him yet ) and wait for snow to lunch him in mid air wait once snow is on the ground u attack so he can be in mid air . he shuld be dead even before transforming.
@shockzz1234 u will need some luck its 70 percent works . but the main point is to keep him in mid air but watch out when he is staggerd and guarding so to prevent that when he is guarding use 3 ravangers and stagger him and once he begin to attack use 3 commando or 2 cuz u have hope which has no commando

Relentless assault: (Light-Rav, Fang-Com, Hope-Rav). Open with this, and do as much damage as you can before you start to take some hits.
When low on HP, switch to Diversity: (Light-Med, Fang-Com, Hope-Rav)
whenever you see him use "Defensive Shift", switch to Smart Bomb (Light-Rav, Fang-Sab, Hope-Rav) and debuff him while staggering him. Stay in this paradigm until you stagger him, then go to R Assault and launch him. The end.
i deafeted him differently i believe you can change your team and i hade vanille (Leader) hope and snow i used snow as my sentinel and hope as my synergist and vanille as my ravanger and i beat him..... but this is good too :D

tbh i found this 1 of the easiest boss's in the game....... simple if u use these chars n combos
Lightning/Sahz/Hope
Rav/Com/Rav
Rav/Rav/Rav
Med/Syn/Syn
Start off with ur Syn buffs. Buff up big time then switch to full Rav and alternate every 2 rotations between that and ur relentless asault. will build up a quick multiplier. keep doing that over and over
when he goes defensive (buff up)
when he goes offensive (go defensive n heal with Lightning)
took me under 3 mins with this rotation! easy

woo i used lightning/fang/vanille and pretty much had fang as a commando everytime, i didn't worry about buffs/debuffs the only paradigms i used were rav/com/med and med/com/com so his stagger meter wouldnt drop to 0% then at 276% i summoned odin, her went into guard as soon as i staggered him but soon her came out shortly into gestalt and with zantetsuken i hit him for 856% damage killed him, and 5 starred his annoying ass >:3

OMFG I got so pissed when I thought I was going to win after multiple attempts then he doom counters me -.-...I'm like wtf? I have Hope and Snow on my team to make the battle a bit slower but easier to get through.. I wasn't expecting a doom counter...So I said fuck it and watched this video. :) About to retry the bastard.

Used Light Fang and Vanille, did it in like 3 mins. Use shrouds at the start of the fight. Start with Rav/Sab/Sab and get everything you can before switching to Rav/Rav/Sen. Fang will hold Raines' attention while Light and Vanille build his stagger. With all debuffs on him and your shrouds, you can beat him before the Metamorphase. Enjoy!

@jackslimshady light vanille fang. make sure you have dispel in youre arsenal and also use medic medic sabotage on stand by. i beat him in 4 min. stagger him and it will be easy to do midair combo

I just beat him in 3mins flat. I used Lightning, Vanille and Sazh. Trick is to start with all your status elements on you before battle. I used smartbomb a lot and relentless assault, alternating with a medic. once he is about staggered unleash Odin. Get his meter all the way up then use the final special with Odin and that should do it.

@MusicManiac931 I did the same with Snow, Sazh, and Hope. Staggered him before he lost enough to stransform and air juggled his ass till he died. He would always be like an inch from landing and then Snow would launch his ass again. After 7 losses to this guy it was so satisfying to wreck him like that.

easy way to beat him: diversity using lightning as commando, snow as ravager and vanille medic. spam attacks on him and then when staggered switch to tireless charge. make sure to equip twin brawler bands to both snow and light. shaman marks work well on vanille.

i literally could NOT defeat this guy.... used the same stragedy as these guys for the paradigms and boom! i had him staggered and dead in 2 mins 50 seconds :DD just one stagger,didn't have to summon Odin after all or anything :) Thanks!!!

I just used this way and a way in the comments combined and got 5 stars. I used lightning, hope, and snow and I had it on relentless assault until everyones hp was good, then switched to rav rav rav and drove up his chain gauge. When he guarded the first time I was able to almost stagger him and I quickly summoned oden (who DID stagger him) and he died before he could even transform

I also beat Cid in 2 minutes. The trick is to stagger him before he rids you of your buffs and his debuffs, then kill him in one stagger.
I used Lightning, Fang, and Hope, and used Aegisol and Fortisol before the battle
paradigms to use: Relentless asault (Rav/Com/Rav) Open with this paradigm.
Smart Bomb (Rav/Sab/Rav) use this when you see him go to "Defensive shift"
Diversity (Rav/Com/Med) when your HP is low.
once you stagger him, go to RA and dont let him De-Launch. No summons needed

@shockzz1234 This battle was tough, but I beat him. My team was Lightning, Snow, and Vannile. Snow was sentinal a lot. Vannile had to debuff him a lot. And Lightning was Com/Rav/Med most time. When he was staggered go to Com/Com/Rav and keep healing yourself too. That should help you

@shockzz1234 alright i hope this helps ( first switch fang with snow ) . second use commando and give him some hits . and once he do a recovery shift attack him with 2 ravangers and 1 healer . once ur done healing switch to 3 ravangers he shuld be guarding and staggerd then switch to 3 commando and once he begin to attack ( dont attack him yet ) and wait for snow to lunch him in mid air wait once snow is on the ground u attack so he can be in mid air . he shuld be dead even before transforming.

@shockzz1234 u will need some luck its 70 percent works . but the main point is to keep him in mid air but watch out when he is staggerd and guarding so to prevent that when he is guarding use 3 ravangers and stagger him and once he begin to attack use 3 commando or 2 cuz u have hope which has no commando

Relentless assault: (Light-Rav, Fang-Com, Hope-Rav). Open with this, and do as much damage as you can before you start to take some hits.
When low on HP, switch to Diversity: (Light-Med, Fang-Com, Hope-Rav)
whenever you see him use "Defensive Shift", switch to Smart Bomb (Light-Rav, Fang-Sab, Hope-Rav) and debuff him while staggering him. Stay in this paradigm until you stagger him, then go to R Assault and launch him. The end.

i deafeted him differently i believe you can change your team and i hade vanille (Leader) hope and snow i used snow as my sentinel and hope as my synergist and vanille as my ravanger and i beat him..... but this is good too :D
