  • @ohnehax We used a later model manifold from the "S60R" although it was found on all turbo cars from 2003-2004 onwards I think.

  • @SupraTompan this was a turbonetics T3/T04E 50trim with a stage3 turbine wheel and .48AR housing.

  • @StopLookiing Depends on your luck, if you use a big turbo (not a volvo turbo) you can do 360-370+

    If you use a volvo 19T turbo you can get to 330, 340 and maybe still bend your rods some day.

  • @StopLookiing: If you have a choice, you want the 740, especially if it's turbo. If you're buying one, the ideal choice is a 93-95 940 Turbo (for the RWD cars). If you want it to pull like this, better get an 850. ;)

  • @850wagonT5 i probably will end up with a 240 or 242 turbo. with about 250-300whp :)

  • @StopLookiing: Just bear in mind, it's a LOT harder to get that power from a redblock (B230FT). 300whp will require converting to a 16V head, and stand alone management might help. You can get an 8V into the 12's on LH for pretty cheap though, my friend here has one. Ebay turbo and bolt ons, ported 531 head, etc, about 275whp on E85 (740 Turbo). Whiteblock swap (B5234T) like an 850/S70 makes 300whp is a whole lot easier though!

  • @850wagonT5 i live in norway, pretty cheap "parts" here.. my brother and i r'building a 240 now with H-rods and probably some forged pistons.. didnt cost him to much. it has an 8v head and i guess he will easily get out about 350whp!

    mine will not be build for racing but for steet and have fun ON the streets :)

  • @iman666100 back then when i made this video the engine was stock with a T3/T4 turbo and R exhaust manifold, big IC and injectors and home mapping. Since then I changed some more things. You need a big turbo to get more out of it, standard turbo is too small.

  • I just bought a used volvo 850 STD, its standard. I'm pretty excited I love the car and interior but I still have some repairs to make before I put a safety and get it on the road. I'm just wondering about performance, clearly it's not going to go anywhere near as fast as your baby does haha, but for just a rough estimate what do you think I could 0-60?

  • So how much power is this thing putting down now? Sweet ride, love the old 850s. Got a SLIGHTLY worked P2 V70 T5 M (NOTHING close to this perf though).

  • right now somewhere between 415 and 430bhp. last dyno was 412.5 but at 1.6 bar, doing 1.7-1.8 now. This video however it was still a bit less. I've done a run 1 sec faster without video afterwards.

  • That's quite high boost to achive 430hp... Stock camshafts is a bottle's neck. You could try putting on the camshafts from the NA B5254S engine. A little more duration, and 10mm of lift. Ofcause the stock lobe-separation angle won't work on a turbo setup, but then, who needs the camshaft tool! Just position the camshafts in a stock turbo angle and make new timing marks :)

    You would probably get the same amount of power at 1.4, or even more, considering you less back-pressure as a bonus :D

  • I know :) I'm actually using such a cam on the exhaust side but not (yet) on the intake because I was worried about overlap. The intake cam is definitely a bottleneck now, I know. Also the small turbine doesn't help VE. I may change the cams but to be honest the car is mostly a track car and then I reduce the power to ~350 so I'm not sure I should put effort in increasing power output on the street where it almost never drives.

  • @JCviggen1 The overlap should not be a problem at all with the NA cams :) Remember, there is more overlap on a NA engine, than on a Turbo. The lobe separation angle of the NA 20v setup is approx 109 degrees. With your turbo 112-113 degrees would be more beneficial, and there will be less overlap.

    Unfortunately, the valve spread angle of these heads is a bit too high (62 degrees) to give optimum flow characteristics. So what really does it for these engines is more lift. 12mm and up is fine ;)

  • I don't know how much at the engine exactly..360-370 HP, not quite 400 yet! But the power curve is very flat, so its still easily quicker than a 400HP engine without a turbo.

  • Your rotors are warped from breaking too hard. You need to get them re-surfaced.

  • They were old and worn, I have replaced them since then :)

  • I`m surprised that you got only slight wheelspinn from 0-100.

  • good tires and a laggy turbo which saves first gear wheelspin :) I only have to lift the throttle a bit around 4500rpm to avoid spinning it.

  • You wont get anywhere near 310bhp with a chip-tune alone, more like 370bhp. Maybe with a full custom exhaust and induction set up and injectors but even then you wouldn't make 310.

    Anything over 300bhp requires a bigger turbo. Just ask JC :)

  • Yes he knows, he has an 850R but with viscous coupling and thus slightly better traction ;-)

    As for speedo accuracy : 200 GPS KMH = 206 on speedo. More accurate than most cars lol
