@Szgerle Actually you are supporting the artists and artisans, they recieve a part of the profit from selling albums so no you are in fact stealing from the artist in question if you do download songs, a lot of cash also goes to the gig organizers when your buying concert tickets buy that logic if you actually wanted to support musicians you should send them money directly over the net or by mail. Do you do so? If not you sould think about your stance on the issue. =)

Also, downloading music is not stealing because no phyical propety gets stolen and intellectual property is only theft if they profit from it.

Piracy may be a crime, but all music artists must understand that a large portion of their fanbase is there because their fans were able to just go and download their material for free. I think that an artist live performance is in my opinion, is equally if not more important to a bands success as someone who downloads their shit for free and finds that they are actually his or her favorite band in the world will most likely buy a ticket for their show & if it was a mind blowing show, success.
