  • How do you know it was lost? Did it ask for directions?

  • feel sorry for'em ;-(

  • @PianoGirl091 Whales are not fish. They are mammals like us.

  • poor little fish xD

  • Awww, poor baby :( This made me sad!

  • Wow! Thats A Baby? well if thats a baby i wouldnt like to meet the mama, or the daddy WOAH!

  • that's so sad i feel sorry for it :(

  • The whale must be like "bring me home, good sir!"

  • if its other rejected it why worry about it nature made its choice to kill the animal so just it alone.

  • it thinks is mother transformed into a boat

  • that would be an amazing thing to happen to you

  • This is so sad and I am so sorry that mother came looking for her baby only a few days later. I hope this never happens again.

  • The baby whale was smart. It stayed close to sailing boats as so it would not be picked up on ultrasonic sonar by orcas who would feed on parts of this whale. It did not think that these boats were its mother, they have an intellect far greater than ours. The calf went in shore more for protection from orcas and potential threats. Its crys for its mother would have been heard many miles into the deep sea. Yes, the mother came back for her, only rspca murdered her first.

  • Oh my God, it breaks my heart to see that desperate baby whale so hungry and lost. The whale adopted that boat as its mother and kept nocking on it asking for food!! Is so sad, why couldn't anything been done???

  • damnnn thats a baby? wtvr its still so cute :)

  • poor thing.... come to momma.....

  • mother nature does all this so human mother fuckers like AP shouldd not try to command things like these as they are doing in free waters like japan. they (west ) just cant see any other nation stand against them . pussys

  • Someone woke up on the retarded side of the bed, hmm?

  • poor whale he tought the yacht was his mother

  • Seems like it wants to stick with that ship.. looks so poor :(

  • Animals know a lot more than people think so we shouldn't be underestimating them.

  • people are just the animals with little higher inteligence. man is little more inteligente than a monkey, monkey than a dog and so on. so dont put much on people.

MarchHatter u dont know many things also.

    Essefen too.

  • Who said they "had to" put her down? They had a formula ready-made and available....I guess they just wanted the problem to go away

  • sadly they had to put the baby down. No way to feed it and mamma could not be found :(

This week they had to put another humback that had swam into shallow water down as well.

    so sad

  • hola. y mi pregunta donde quedo su mama? tal ves la mataron y se quedo solo que gente tan mala

  • Pobresito animalito

  • wow those bitches are fucking sad

  • dont know why they gave up this baby finally.

I believe they may save its life if they have enough support and money. its so disgusting to hear that human killed it and said it died with dignity. how did you know it would like to die.its so sad.

  • This is so sad because this baby whale came to people looking for help. I feel better knowing that at least the whale whisperer tried to comfort her during her sufferings.

Otherwise, I don't think this whale came into harbour expecting to be killed by humans. The Austrailians should have come up with some way to at least try and feed this whale to give it a chance.

    o

  • wtf why would they kill it?!?!?!?!

  • No me gusta decirlo pero es verdad, Pobre bb, si un ser humano cuando pierde a sus padres esta desorientado y hasta desesperado no me puedo imaginar lo que este bb ballena sintio en esos momentos, simplemente triste...

  • It's unfortunate, but apparently in the last day or two, they killed her. I haven't listened to the story yet to find out the whole story, but it says that's what they did. Too bad she got lost out there! Hopefully this does not happen again anytime soon.

  • Who is very happy with baby´s death are the japanese. Give the body for them eat it.

  • There was heroes involved here, I want to extend my thanks to Mr Fairfax for truly giving it a go to try to help save Colette and the guys out there on the water too giving it to the so called environmental blokes in charge of destroying Colette our beautiful baby Whale, John Dengate and Peter Garrett have blood their hands, the absolute stupidity of it all is too great to believed.

  • Well done mate...

  • For Heavens Sake. STOP SAYIN THAT SHYT LIKE YU KNOW WHAT REALLY HAPPEND NO ONE KNOWS! DAMN

This Poor 2 Week Old Baby Whale Didnt Diserve This :S

Ya'll Arguing On A Video..Stop It..Were Supposed To Be Sendin Our Farewells! ..

    R.I.P Lil One...xoxoxoxox

  • Ya, heart-wrenching. Love & RIP, Collete. Lookin back, it wasn't easy for the wildlife officers too. To those wildlife officers - you've done your best, keep your head up.

  • really heart-wrenching sight. really.

  • Poor thing. Luckily his fight is over...

  • The mother of that poor baby whale,is already in the market in Japan,i may say fuck japan!!for slaughterig and killing the whales beacause of their tradition, culture!!

  • Duh.

  • the baby wasn't abandoned, it's mother was killed days ago. the baby has bin in the news for days as a distraction in the news, so the NSW government can get away with privatising the electricity supply to Zionist elites. they always need a headline story to keep bad press out, when there upto something

they didn't want to give it whale milk and give it a chance, it's dead mother had just bin found dead. and the baby had to go quick to try and cover the whole thing up

  • this whale baby is lucky it was not SAVED by japanese RESCUERS!

  • 11pm Aug22: News just in, an adult humpback whale has been washed up dead on a beach far south of Sydney, looks like the baby's mother... bugger it, oh well part of the mystery's been solved

  • the baby wasn't abandoned, it's mother was killed days ago. the baby has bin in the news for days as a distraction in the news, so the NSW government can get away with privatising the electricity supply to Zionist elites. they always need a headline story to keep bad press out, when there up to something

they didn't want to give it whale milk and give it a chance, it's mother had just bin found dead. and the baby had to go quick to try and cover the whole thing up

  • The whale in the US wasn't a humpback, humpbacks are filter feeders that eat krill (as adults), at least with fish eaters you have a point of reference to come up with a milk formula (hey, analyze dolphin milk), anyhow, at best it could have only extended it's life temporarily. That said, they could have tried that, while looking for a foster 'family' out to sea... ie. try to sustain it, THEN abandon it with it's own kind, they would be better judges of what was 'best' for the poor thing

  • i must say that it is quite fucked that no-one really tried anything to save the whale. there should have been no reason to put the calf down. they could have at least tried to save him and even if the whale did end up dying then at least somthing was tried. if steve irwan was still with us im sure he wouldnt let this happen, he would do everything possible to save the poor calf. the world is trying to stop asian whaling but yet we could not save one lost calf. disgraceful, very sad.

  • There were many issues surrounding the aided survival of Collin. Mainly the fact that theres no readily abundant source of whale milk to suckle him with, no place big enough to keep him so that he wouldnt be hit by any boats but still had enough room to swim and for the record they did try and lead him back out to sea but he followed the boat back in.

Nature is a cruel thing Shit happens. All those poets and im so sad-ers just stop. yes it is sad, but death is a game no one can beat

    get over it

  • If the whale rejected any milk that we fed it then there might be cause to kill it. but we didn't even try.

Mr J.Fairfax rigged up a feeding device and was prevented from using it.

We had a safe harbour to keep it in and the Sea world facilities for large marine life was just a few bays down.

she came back in for safety she wouldn't have run away.

nature is not cruel. humans are.

  • I say- Yeh Right! Rescuers are monitoring the whale calf. What rescuers?,the so called wildlife authorities had put it down because they said nothing could be done after 7 days of starvation (they tried nothing!). Further more, they said it was impossible to feed it! I say- If the baby was several hundred miles/kilometers from the coast,we could say,yes it's a hard choice to make, but,it was at our door step!!! The poor thing escaped from the sharks jaws only to find our humanity had bigger jaws!!

  • You're an idiot.

  • Killing the Whale has not ended its suffering.

It cries now in our hearts our souls and our dreams.

Life calls to life for nurture and succour and receives bureaucratic death.

  • I feel sad for the whale.I dont know whether killing it was a good idea. They should just probably let it go by itself and let fate decides what would happen to it.

  • This was a rare gift to Sydney. An opportunity to attempt something unique. World fame for attempting to raise a whale or prolong its life. From what i have seen no attempt was made to feed it and heard that those who tried were prevented. People wanted it killed from the start. There is no such thing as an authority in this matter. It came to us for life and we gave it death. No news of its mother. No ingineuity, no courage to attempt the challenge. Just defeatism and destruction.

  • poor whale :( :(

imagine if the baby whale got lost near japan..... it would be a whole different story.

  • i agree with u mate....it would be dinner if i got lost around there

this whale needed out help......god speed little guy

  • Responding to - strongestgeorge. Australia is a multicultural nation. We don't see our selves as racist or self centred. We are proud of our country but this incident involving the baby whale collin has somewhat tarnished our look on the world arena! We as a nation should of at least tried to give collin a fighting chance with bottle feeding & any other means would of been welcome. Issues with Authorities & money (sad). Tourists would have flocked to see Collin handfed at Seaworld in QLD!!!

  • Australian people have VERY UNIQUE IDEA that it is not O.K. that Japanese hunt a whale for food and that it is totally O.K. that Australian kills the baby whale just for not being alive...

It is obvious that Australian are "self-centered" and it is based on their racism. They hate Asian including Japanese.

  • You're an idiot, at least when they 'euthenize' this whale it wont be by 'sticking' it with a harpoon then hang it upside down to drown and die... the Japanese 'researchers' should at least be forced to 'dispose' of a whale in a humane way... every civilised country n the world has some kind of law against cruelty to animals... if you had a pet that was dying and was suffering and it HAD to die, would you bash it around with a baseball bat or give it an injection... answer please

  • Why do you hate us 'round eyes'... you just said that Japanese hunt whales for food, thank you for the truth, the Japanese have been lying and saying that it was for 'research' (not a very honourable thing to do), how can you 'respect' a culture based on lies. Also, if they are going to kill whales (for any reason) why not at least try to do it without cruelty, if I don't like something about Japanese (only one thing) why does that make me a racist...

  • What I'm going to say now is going to be VERY dangerous... the only country, or people, I do not like, are Americans, they ARE arrogant and 'self centred' (as you put it), war mongering, greedy etc etc etc... Iraq, Abu Ghraib, attitudes to Iran and... well their attitude to the rest of the world really...

I don't have a problem with 'asians'... I love asian food :), I'm white and I'm Hindu.. it's a ridiculous argument... you have a problem with me I think... but why, at least tell me...

  • Responding to - dfine90210. You sound cold, heartless, cruel & mad(fruitcake). No need for foul language. Kids also use youtube! School for you i suppose! Anyway,What are Wildlife Charities/Funds set up for. Could they of stepped in to help. Plenty of donated money & volunteers. What about the dolphin which had a missing tail end,a prosthetic limb was made - no cost issue there! Authorities watched Collin starve then put him down,an endangered species! That was there only helping hand!R.I.P COLLIN

  • hmmm poor whale. Where is the sea shepherd when you need them. It's a beautiful example of double standards. Does anyone know if the meat will be sold?

  • i think dfine90210 is on welfare and thinks he deserves more for just sitting on his brain , thats why he is so mean

  • OH NO!!! I'M A BIG OLD MEANIE HEAD? For one, I am NOT on welfare. Welfare is a great program for poeple who need it, but I don't need it. And I never said I deserve ANYTHING. However, I am entitled to my own opinion on the matter and I have that right to express that opinion. Aren't you supposed to be in school or something?

  • i think sharing air with dfine90210 is really the waste of resources here, who made IT ( dfine90210 = it ) so special?

  • PIGS!!! you can afford to buy guns and bombs? but no money to buy milk for this baby? you be ready to go to hell!!

  • you be ready to suck a fat whale dick. You sound like a faggot with no life. Noone is going to rot in hell because another whale died. Dumbass.

  • we bitch about the japs killing our whales and look at us now killing a baby.the japs are guna have a field day in the media calling us butchers and theyll be right to do so.same crap were no different to the japs

  • After reading the news this morning, I have to say that this is THE STUPIDEST SHIT GOING ON IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW. "Euthanize" the whale. No problem. By why waste the taxpayers' money to drag the damn thing on shore and spend EVEN MORE MONEY to pump it full of drugs. STUPID! If you're going to do it, do it right. Quickly and efficiently. Point blank with a 400 grain, .416 Rigsby. Not to mention this will only cost about $1.50 US. It's a goner already anyways. Stop being such pussies.

  • if u wer the whale.......would you react the same....would u just want to get killed or would you like a chance to survive...of course u would!

  • whales aren't people, it doesn't know what's going on

  • You can speak whale to know this huh?

  • can you speak with the whale to know that it's crying or whatever other bs people are putting up here. The whale is just a whale it doesn't think besides the fact that it's "mother" stopped giving milk. it's not sad about people killing it or anything because it just doesn't know. I hate it when people try to put a human in that situation ("what if it were you") because that's totally different. A person thinks differently than a whale because people have common sense and a whale has instinct

  • please dont inssult the"australian people". I think its disgraceful that the wildlife officers arent't trying hard enough but we (the public) want this whale calf to be fed and healthy. so critise the Wlife officers. not us.

  • why should they burden themselves with a dying whale? Waste time and resources for what?

  • To help this baby whale. There are people with a heart who hate to see this baby whale dying. They try to help him. To bad they can't and that it has to die. I hope they can still help this baby whale!

  • Have you read the news this morning? they are going to drag it onto the beach and waste a ton of money pumping drugs into its heart to cause a heart attack. Same way lethal injection works. Problem solved.

  • they should have spent that money trying to save it.

  • .............. -1

  • Happens all the time in the wild. Maybe they should just let nature take its course and not intervene, spend time on things that actually matter.

  • Amen, brother.

  • The whale would make good target practice for the navy. There must have been a good reason why the mother left it. Or even better, give it to the japanese it cannot be saved.

  • Someone pls feed the baby whale.... :(

  • You go feed it...

  • why don't they feed it ?!?!?!

it came for help and they do nothing !!!!

they only had to give it MILK FORM THE BOAT with a dummy!!

we're living in a horrible careless world nowdays !!!!

  • lol, you can't just give it a carton of milk from the supermarket. It would have to be the specific milk that it would get in the wild, with all the nutrients, otherwise it would die. THe problem is nobody can get that milk

  • breast feed?

  • I dont know what you mean. The milk they would have to get would be the milk they would be breast fed in the wild. The problem is humans cant copy that milk yet, they can't exactly just pick up a random female whale and have it breast feed

  • lol i was making a joke for humens to breast feedLOL

  • lol, sry, i'm being too serious :P

  • Thu 21/08/08 6.36pm Australian time. I just heard on the Current affair news site channel 9 - Collin the baby whale is to be Authenized (PUT TO SLEEP) tonight!!! I am utterly discustted with all do gooders, wildlife experts & governments. I have lost faith in Humanity. Very sad day/night for me & all concerned. We could of shown the world how helpfull/humaniterian we really are. We got The Gold medal for utter idiocy, towel throw ins, negativeness, carelessness, heartlessness. I am very discutted!!!

  • First of all, correct your grammar. It sucks. Second, quit being such a whiny little fruitcake. The whale was going to die anyways. I have an idea... YOU can go feed the dying little bastard whale and neglect your other responsibilities. Waste your time feeding a FUCKING WHALE! NO??? Can't do that??? Well, neither can all of the do- gooders, wildlife experts, and governments! People in this world have REAL issues to face and you're bitching about a whale. Might as well just blame yourself.......

  • australian government was the one that told japanese to stop killing the whales but what happen now..they cant even safe one baby whale

  • I agree with (adfasffs) & (therealthomas)& others also.. I am Australian & have been watching the Local news in discust. All the pathetic excusses regarding funds, animal rights, let nature take its course, bottle feeding is to hard, don't touch the whale.-This has to be the most negative & unhelping thing i have ever heard to date. People would rather throw in the towel even before the fight had began. A discusting publicity stunt. Does nature rescue beached whales & dolphins. Human intervention!

  • To me, it looks like a healthy baby whale. It just seems that it's trying to suckle at the boat because it thinks it is it's mamma. The size difference between the boat and baby when it's trying to suckle and the shape, when looking at it from above it is a good match ( I think anyway ) for the difference between the whale calf and mom. Could you imagine trying to bottle feed a baby whale? The fat content that you would have to come up with and the bottle size?

  • it is child

  • It's not impossible to feed it. The aussies KNOW the U.S. hand-fed a baby whale. One of their first excuses was 'we don't have the same resources as the U.S.' so they did nothing. Now it's probably too late. They gave up without even trying.

  • The whale in the US wasn't a humpback, humpbacks are filter feeders that eat krill (as adults), at least with fish eaters you have a point of reference to come up with a milk formula (hey, analyze dolphin milk), anyhow, at best it could have only extended it's life temporarily. That said, they could have tried that, while looking for a foster 'family' out to sea... ie. try to sustain it, THEN abandon it with it's own kind, they would be better judges of what was 'best'

  • poor little darling, i wish i could adopt it and keep it in my tub and feed it anchovies and read it bedtime books, its too adorable.

maybe they could put it in a zoo and have a female whale adopt it ?

  • poor little baby

  • I feel so bad for her! I hope she finds her mama, it would be really sad and unfortunate if she died out there. That was sad and cute about how she was sucking off the boat! :-(

  • why is no one feeding this poor creature?

  • It's too weak to move as it hasn't eaten in a few days and what do these stupid australians want to do? lure it out to sea HOPING it would find a lactating mother! LOL. it's like trying to lure a starving african boy who can barely walk to a buffet some many miles away. bunch of stupid au ppl!!! just jump in with a huge bottle of milk formula and feed it already, it's starving like hell, it'll surely drink anything!!!!!!!

  • Hey u stupid australians, why the hell cant you stupid wildlife people try to bottle feed the whale or something. You're just making excuses without even trying anything saying 'this is impossible, that is impossible'. If an animal is starving like hell, it'll eat anything so why da fuck u people cant try something!!!!!?????? Just get a dumbo with a huge milk bottle with milk formula and try to get it near its mouth!!!!! bunch of stupid fucks! so many things u can do and all u do is watch!!

  • there are people who spend their whole lives looking after marine animals, i'm pretty sure that they thought they could do something to save it, they would have done it

  • watch?v=1UEOZGFzPas

  • poor whale i feel reely bad for it

  • me too - what a sad story. We all know how it will end. I am so sorry!

  • I saw a show on animal planet where a place in the USA had baby Dugongs in captivity and they fed them formula with a massive rubber teat and they survived and fed well.... it can be done.

  • yea, but dugongs aren't the same thing as humpback whales

  • Listen to the saying 'Nothing is impossible just a little unlikely' and have a go.

No one dies from trying, but may if no one tries.

  • I don't see why artificial feeding would not work as Sea World (USA) has done it before (get the formula off them). Sea World (Aus) states they haven't the resources. However, SW (Aus) has a Marine Rescue Team which they say is a program that incorporates rehabilitation of birds, turtles, dolphins and whales for research into marine life. They should get the formula and some instructions off the USA department, and use one of the yachts in the harbour as a disposal source.

  • There are no whales in captivity in the world. Whales are very emotional creatures and this little baby must be so distressed and inteed depressed, I cannot beleive that with the millions of dollars our government spends a year in wildlife conservation a substitute for whale milk has not yet been discovered. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE!

  • lol that would be funny if that was japanse boat

  • fuck you ya cunt.

  • wtf... your pretty random?

  • That is so sad! The only hope for that poor baby is to find another pod (or it's own mom). The article I read said that feeding it is not really an option, although I am not quite sure why. The National parks guy said they wouldn't even know what to feed it but aren't there whale experts and aren't there whales in captivity?? I hope someone can intervene and save it. The attempt to feed off the boat was just heartbreaking!

  • is it trying to drink from the boat? someone should feed that thing

  • They're not trying to feed her, presumably because it's "not that easy" or there's no way to do it.

  • haha i hope it turns out well for him/her? but the suckling part cracked me up

  • amazing animal

  • poor thing!

  • jeez, how many videos a day does this channel make?

  • ummmm.... ok
