the best Na driver i seen on youtube is this blond girl :) this car is born to be perpendicular to the road ;) mine is alway across. i'm called "the crab" :)
tn21beer. I bought a Mazda MX5 NB in Feb 2010.The condition of the car was immaculate. It had low mileage, no rust, and it came with a Gold warranty. I had it checked over by a Mazda dealer, and the response was "We can't fault it". I paid £2,800 for this vehicle and it runs like a dream.I can only assume that she bought this car from "Trotters Independant Trading" Peckham.
If you like driving by the seat of your pants, buy the NA! Preferably the 1.8, but the first 'short nose' high revving 1.6 version is just as great (if not as reliable).
Nothing wrong with the new one. Its a very sexy car. But I have a love affair with the NA and its pop-up headlights. Specifically, a red 93 manual with a roll cage and DOT approved streetish tires. :D
@The1320Addiction it doesnt matter where you live all 1.6 mx5 that were made after 1994 where detuned to 98bhp because the 1.8 which had 131bhp came out in 1994 and mazda thought the 120bhp the 1.6 had was to similar in performance so they detuned them
it has more power, that is why it´s faster. It is much heavier, so not as nimble as the old one. The new one was designed NOT to be better than the old one - no joke!
@testacorsa150 In tests the NC beats the s**t out of the NA and NB when driven on a track. British spec NC's used to be set a little high by dealers (headlight regs), but even then the NC is quicker. The 1.8 engine is slightly better, the 2 litre is quite a bit better, the chassis is a lot more edgey and likeley to snap away if you drive like an idiot with the TC switched off.
I own an NB, but wouldn't change it. Let's face it, it's not about sheer speed. When it comes to style the NB has it.
@raisenII Well it´s alla matterof taste I guess. The NB to me looks a bit Hyundai ish(no offense - again a matter of taste).
Ofcourse later cars will be faster, because they have a lot stronger engine. The MX5 is a lightweight sportscar, and to me it is still purest in the NA form.

I have driven new MX5 (facelift, hardtop) and it rides fantastic! But one thing i hate in it - it's a hard plastic interior.

if this old mx5 has the 1.6 engine then its shit cause this is a m reg which means it has the detuned 98bhp engine in it

Really, imo, all MKs are brilliant cars. Mazda got it so right each time.
A few hiccups but still so right.
The fun factor is incredible. Smiles per miles outweighs ANY other car... and there are some fine 'other' cars out there.
Shame they can't embrace a more colourful range.
