I am a catholic and I also read the catholic bible and other catholic books. When I worship to god I have a picture of Jesus Christ like a Divine Mercy or Blessed Mary with her infant Jesus Christ. When I pray to him I knee although there is a picture of him infront of me, my eyes are closed while I am meditating, I allow my soul, my mind and my heart to open the reality that the lord who is the living god from heaven is the one I am worshiping.
The picture helps me to concentrate and help me to build up in my mind what it's look like the real god from heaven which I base it from the story of the bible. I see nothing wrong to use the holy image of god when meditating to him. No other people can read my mind except the only god from heaven. So only god who can judge me who is exactly I am worshiping to. And by the way the holy images that use by the catolics for worship based on the bible. So I see nothing wrong.

Keeping a photo of a dead loved one that has passed on could hardly be construed as being prohibited by the verse, particularly since the image was taken while they were alive.
If you're a Catholic and you don't use idols as holy objects and you don't kneel or bow down before them then you have nothing to worry about and this message is not for you, it's for all of those who deny that they do such things, reasoning in there own mind that it's all cool with God because we don't call it Idol worship it's actually honor and we should honor the statue of Gods creatures, my friends it's simply is not ok with God.
I went to a friend's house and he had pictures of his family everywhere (obviously he is an idol worshiper). He had a picture of his mother who had passed away. For some crazy reason he would look at the picture when he thought about his mom (again with the idol worship). It's not different, I would know I've been Catholic my whole life. I've never prayed to a statue, I've actually never seen anyone kneel in front of a statue either (except for the pictures you showed) but either way. Why don't you believe it's possible to look at a statue/picture of Jesus and then pray to Jesus in Heaven? The Catechism condemns idolatry, Catholics condemn idolatry, why don't you believe us? If I prayed to statues, why would I deny it? You would think that atleast ONE of the billion plus Catholics would come forward and admit they were praying to statues but no one has because they never were. @janicepore Funny fact is that there are different versions of the Bible... and with each one, each sect has its own interpretation of it. You're pretty much lost, buddy. Believing SOLELY in the Bible is actually wrong. That way you're saying that a book is your god.
You need to re-start your faith in the Catholic Church, the Church of Jesus.

We know that the Bbile is not God. The Bible is the inspired Word of God and it is extremely important to true to us Christians.

Some people LIVE by the Bible and ignore everything else. That's heresy because they're treating their Bible as a god. There were TRADITIONS before the Bible. In other words, the Bible isn't the "alpha and the Omega"

just opinions no facts, visual references are not Idols! The Ark of the Covenant, was it an Idol! or an image of a Cross! which has always represented Chrisitanity, however this guys private interpritation is fallible and is missread.

and what about you, who do you idolize? don't tell me you do not idolize the film's actors/actress, you keep watching the movies because you almost idolize the movie actors . Same you keep attend the concerts because you idolizing your favourate singers. You even have a picture or image of your favourate president or policticians of your country. So, what is wrong if we use a holy images of real god from heaven? Anyway the holy images is made based on what's on the bible.

@Jintzftw The statues are not idols. An idol is something that is believed to be a god and so is worshipped as a god. If one is using a statue to represent the one and only divine God, than it is a statue and nothing more.
Insisting that these are idols is the error of telling someone else what they themselves believe in spite of what they tell you they believe.
Sometimes a statue is just a statue, just as a picture of your spouse is just a picture of your spouse and not an idol.

Scripture is not open to interpretation.Read your Bibles fully!Read the old testament and read the ways that the idol worshippers worship.See if you can tell the difference.I guarantee you'll see its the same old thing and God hates it!Lev.26:1,psalms 135:15,isaiah2:20 to name a few of the hundreds.Besides to Honor someone is to give them praise for what they do.praise is not worship when you are praising someone everyday for something they have done and to make it worst you are one your knees?

Catholicism is a great abomination to the Lord God, making the words of God of none effect, changing the word of God into a lie, and teaching others to do the same. With the reasoning of man they Justify idols and many other abominations and essentially they are calling God a liar, denying his words which are true, they become puffed up with pride and conceited in there hearts. The same can be said of Islam. they both have Knowlegde but lack understanding.

Keeping a photo of a dead loved one that has passed on could hardly be construed as being prohibited by the verse, particularly since the image was taken while they were alive.

If you're a Catholic and you don't use idols as holy objects and you don't kneel or bow down before them then you have nothing to worry about and this message is not for you, it's for all of those who deny that they do such things, reasoning in there own mind that it's all cool with God because we don't call it Idol worship it's actually honor and we should honor the statue of Gods creatures, my friends it's simply is not ok with God.

I went to a friend's house and he had pictures of his family everywhere (obviously he is an idol worshiper). He had a picture of his mother who had passed away. For some crazy reason he would look at the picture when he thought about his mom (again with the idol worship). He claims the picture helps remind him of his mother HE EVEN KISSED THE PICTURE ONCE TOO!!!! Obviously he is worshiping the picture and is going to burn in hell for eternity!!! He needs to be saved!!!

Come on a photo of granny is vastly different than a 40' statue that the whole church is praying to.

It's not different, I would know I've been Catholic my whole life. I've never prayed to a statue, I've actually never seen anyone kneel in front of a statue either (except for the pictures you showed) but either way. Why don't you believe it's possible to look at a statue/picture of Jesus and then pray to Jesus in Heaven? The Catechism condemns idolatry, Catholics condemn idolatry, why don't you believe us? I could smash a statue of Jesus and then pray to Jesus and it wouldn't make a differenc

If I prayed to statues, why would I deny it? You would think that atleast ONE of the billion plus Catholics would come forward and admit they were praying to statues but no one has because they never were. If you looked up to the stars at night and began praying to God I wouldn't say you were praying to the stars even though you may be looking at them.

And I don't believe myself holier-than-thou, I am frothed with sins and once was hooked on television and it had become my primary focus, idol worship is serious business and if nothing else all people should make sure they examine themselves to be sure they're not putting any idol in place of God.

Actually I do believe many Catholics are as you describe yourself, my wife for one is Catholic she's from Peru, she probably would not destroy any statue or holy images purely because of honor, she would most likely conceder it sacrilege.

we as Catholics are not disputing that idol worshipping is bad. if i would bow down to some random scupture and offer it my prayers then i am sinning, worshiping the creation instead of the creator, that is blasphemy. however if i see a statue of say the apostle paul and a bow down before it and then offer a prayer of thank giving to gad, or ask the apostle to pray for me to our savior,then i am not offering prayers to the statue, the statue is reminding me of the glory of god, and i act on that

"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed." james 5:16.
as you can see from this passage god clearly wants us to pray for each other, so asking others to pray for you cannot be against gods words.
also I am not praying to a dead person when a pray to the saints, being a saint means that you were saved by god, lived his will and then went to heaven. thus the saints a alive as our savior promised them.

IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR EVERYONE: does the prophet Isaiah represent and speak for God specifically in Isa 44 or are those words merely spoken by a prophet or man?
I ask because in Isaiah 44 GOD intimately describes and blatantly condemns Idol worship, I've used the 44th Chapter of Isaiah in the video "Vicar of Hell" to representing Gods description and condemnation of Idols and the worshipping of them.

The one thing I can appreciate from this video is that you promote the reading of the Bible, which is always good. Keep doing videos like that: that promote studying for one's self.
