i know the rules, im a level 5 referee basically meaning i can referee anything from little kids to doing the lines of jr a games, i usually do midget aa/aaa. It may not be against the rules but its pretty ineffective to jump into somebody not only taking them out of the play but taking yourself completely out of the picture, especially when you play defence.
it really depends on the situation, this was a pretty unnecessary hit and chances are with the right ref it would be called a charging or roughing depending on what was done before the hit, although he did coast the jump would be enough for a respectable charging call as well, it would be a definite boarding if it was into the boards.
The biggest thing I don't understand is if he left his feet and tackled a player he obviously isn't playing the puck which leads me to believe he was intending to hurt bonk why is the NHL not cracking down on this because I've seen him make other hits just like this

i know the rules, im a level 5 referee basically meaning i can referee anything from little kids to doing the lines of jr a games, i usually do midget aa/aaa. It may not be against the rules but its pretty ineffective to jump into somebody not only taking them out of the play but taking yourself completely out of the picture, especially when you play defence.

it really depends on the situation, this was a pretty unnecessary hit and chances are with the right ref it would be called a charging or roughing depending on what was done before the hit, although he did coast the jump would be enough for a respectable charging call as well, it would be a definite boarding if it was into the boards.

The biggest thing I don't understand is if he left his feet and tackled a player he obviously isn't playing the puck which leads me to believe he was intending to hurt bonk why is the NHL not cracking down on this because I've seen him make other hits just like this

actually kromwall almost always keeps ONE foot on the ice, there fore by rule his hits are legal. same with the lupul hit, he keeps one foot on the ice until after the hit.

What's your definition of 'finalized?' if you mean before everyone was done falling over then yes. But that's not the rule, he made contact and he had at least one foot of the ground, but his feet came up under him involuntarily after that because of the momentum. That's not a penalty.

no, geowings is quoting the whole stat sheet across the board. not just power play stats. if you had a clue you would know that the power play stat is only one of many stats that make up a "better depth team". the Wings own every other stat across the board over the flyers.
as far as the power play goes, the flyers scored a whopping three more goals than Detroit.

gyneman, I didn't just quote the Flyers "power play", I also said that the Flyers have the most scoring depth in the entire NHL, which they do (7 20+ goals scorers, and nearly 4 30 goal scorers, AND they're missing Gange who is a 40 goal scorer!).
Now, I think that MORE then proves my point that anyone who says the Flyers aren't talented is a moron. Fact is they are one of the more offensively talented teams in the league.

The Wings stat sheet for the season is across the board better the the Flyers except on the power play. Which, like I said is a three goal difference. The Flyers may have higher goal scorers, but the Wings have more goals scored. Spread out over the team. Thusly creating "scoring depth".

Well, here's what I would say. The Wings are certainly playing better right now, so they are the better team. Would I say they have more talent (on paper) then a healthy Flyers club w/ Gagne? Hard to say. So much of hockey is confidence, momentum, chemistry and timing..the wings have it all right now - no question about it. The wings are the least penalized team, they play a European style, some like it, some don't, I myself like a mix.

I already said the Wings were going on all cylinders, and clearly there were. They were just unbeatable. That being said, a healthly Flyers club is better then you probably realize. We had THE most scoring depth (7 20+ goal scorers) and the 2nd best powerplay in the league this year. You don't possess those things without a crapload of talent.

The Flyers actually hadn't been playing well since the Capitals series. Montreal should have beaten us, but Biron stood on his head. Then in the Pitt series we were without out 2 best D and it was lights out.
You know what I mean, no matter how good you are, sometimes you get on rolls where you are playing your "A" game and you can't loose, and then sometimes you go on a run where nothing is working. Teams that win the cup always are lucky enough to be clicking at just the right time.

This hit was charging, and he did leave his feet just before contact - that's why his legs went flying up in the air - that doesn't happen on a clean, shoulder led hit when your feet are planted. Just watch the Calgary hit at 6 seconds of this video and you'll see what a CLEAN hit looks like in the EXACT same situation.
Who's my player? I'm a Flyers Fan. And if this was Steve Downie making the exact same hit on Kovalev, he'd be arrested and banned.
