Ok so far this is one of the best vids Iv'e seen on the Omnia II. Why is it that your Omnia specifically is less laggy than others that Iv'e seen where when switching from backgrounds, the widgets that are placed out, take relatively long to load & yours did not? :)

Hey im goin to buy the omnia 2 really soon but im a little confused about the difference between Jet and the Omnia 2....any key difference besides the screen size? U've mentioned tat the Jet has the capability to install aps rite? How about the Omnia2?

Jet is a feature phone while Omnia2 is a smartphone. For a smartphone, u could think it as a windows platform running on your mobile. Omnia2 provides greater flexibility and variety in installation of apps. Like windows xp/vista, you could install apps that modify the UI and give you more functionalities. On the other hand, Jet allows only Java applications, which are like those widgets in vista/7 sidebar

Physically, Jet is smaller than Omnia2, thou both shares the same hardware specs

personally i find 6.5 n 6.1 has v little differences... mostly cosmetic changes it seems..

if you are goin to use samsung media player, you are better of sticking to wm6.1 since u could control the mp3 playback via the lockscreen

there r some memory leak issue wif the current 6.5 firmware

Hi! Thanks for uploading this video. I think I speak for many people when I say that it really gives us an informative insight into this intriguing device! I'm going to buy an Omnia Pro when it's released, but the UI is identical in most aspects, so this video helps me a lot!

I have one question though. One problem I have with my Omnia i900 was that it doesn't play WMA music files. Can you tell me whether your Omnia II does? Does it display the album art well?

thx for the compliment. Omnia Pro comes with 2nd type of widget, look quite interesting

My omnia ii does play WMA files. Have tested with a 128 kbps wma, and it is playing fine.

Omnia II does support album art, you can look at the video from 5:20. The issue here is Omnia II does not search for album art from the folder anymore, it is searching for the album art from the audio files directly.

i'm not sure of the frequency band verizon is using. omnia 2 supports 900 / 1900 / 2100 / 850 / 1800. You could disable the data connection on the phone such that it will not connect to the gprs

u could try disabling the MMS ringtone n vibration if u r using the older firmware. Another way is to disable the samsung inbox and use the default winmo inbox.

if all these cant work out, juz press close the message sending screen and the notification wont appear

it depends on wat you need. both hav the same design, but jet is smaller than oii. one is a conventional mobile phone platform, while the other is a smartphone. smartphone allows you to do more stuff at the expense of steeper learning curve.

I am having Omnia ii and it rocks, I disagree if you say it is for first time windos user. It is advanced for windows mobile. By the way, How do you get a 3rd software for 12-keypad for messaging.. Curious :D

oh, what i meant was first its well designed for first time user, of cos its suitable for seasoned user for its underlying OS. The learning curve is much gentle than other more naked window mobile i find.

the 12 keypad is included in the phone, press and hold the mode until a dialog appears. you could select 12 keypad, 20 keypad, and qwerty keyboard from there :D

wow looking at how smooth and finger friendly the ui is, i really do want to get one :P i remember a pre-release version of the omnia 2 where when u switch between the 3 widget screens, it lagged to load the pages, but i guess samsung fixed it. great choice if u want a window mobile phone :]

1. I don't quite get u here? There are actually 3 different keyboard layout in Omnia II, QWERTY, 20 keys and 12 keys (conventional keypad)

2. Yes it can display chinese. But to type Chinese, you would have to download your own Chinese input. PlumSIP is the one that they included in Omnia, which is a free ware.

3. Delay in ringing for incoming calls, and softer sms alerts. Peeps with the latest firmware claims that the latter issue is resolved.

Nope, SMS are non-threaded by default. It is possible to switch on threaded sms for Samsung inbox, but that makes it slower.

touch symbian is pretty new, there's limited applications at the moment. but nokia open source the symbian, might have more applications in future.

as for winmo, 6.1 n 6.5 have quite a wealth of applications out there right now. 7 is coming nex yr, but not sure if that is goin to provide backward support for applications designed for 6.5 or older

As someone pointed put in another video, there i something very child like about the UI. They've tried hard to hide the MS OS, and this is what they've come up with post Omnia 1. Htc touchflo 3D/Sense it aint that's for sure, shame really, cause the specs are not that bad. You'll proabaly have to install SPB mobile shell on it though.

try out yourself, see which experience you would prefer. winmo gives you wider range of browsers, IE, Opera, Firefox oso releasing theirs soon. On top of that, winmo supports embedded flash.

As for stock market applications, that boils down to the developers. If there's a particular app that you prefer, try asing them if they are releasing for either phone.

Omnia 2 is a lot better.

It's got more features and virtually unlimited possibilities of customization, and a choice of browsers, media players etc., whereas you only get a bunch of icons, one browser, one player etc. on the iPhone.

Well, the Omnia 2 got the faster processor (800MHz Samsung processor compared to the pretty slow Qualcomm one in HTC's devices), it's got the big AMOLED screen, a Dual-LED flash for the camera, internal storage in addition to microSD and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

So it's pretty clear that the Omnia 2 is the more powerful/feature-rich device.

The Diamond 2 is for people who want a smaller, lighter device than the Omnia2/Touch HD/iPhone, that still has all the smartphone (WinMo) features.
