seriously? not one comment is gonna mention bob dylan? come on. well he alledgedly wrote the song "girl from the north country" about either bonnie or echo helstrom, each being high school sweethaerts.
watching Bonnie Beecher performing this song in the Twilight Zone I would have loved only her. I think I would TODAY !! I know I would ! She is 69 now I am 61 it's doable ! !!
Good? This is simply one of the most brillant things made in this planet.
Vincent Gallo asked YouTube to remove this from its data a few years ago. And they did this. You know, the song is part of "The Brown Bunny" OST. Maybe he bought its rights. So watch out!
Cinema art at its best , Like good vintage rock this type of art will never be repeated. Just a very strange episode. One of my favorites , wish I could find it on vid or on the web
I'm with you Rational. I just saw this episode for the first time all the way through last night, and this really is the last GOOD episode of the series. Bonnie Beecher will haunt my dreams, thanks to Richard Donner's moody lighting and unique camera angles. This episode is one of the most dreamlike of all "Twilight Zone"s. The sad underscore at the end of this episode really is a fitting elegy for one of the great TV shows of all time.
"Come Wander With Me" is almost universally panned as the worst episode of the entire series, but I don't think I could possibly disagree more. It's got an unforgettably icy, gloomy, and foreboding atmosphere about it, aided in no small part by one of the most hauntingly beautiful melodies ever composed for a half-hour television show.
Thanks for uploading this! This song has haunted me ever since I saw the Twilight Zone episode. It's nice to know I can come here to listen to it. I looked for it on Itunes but they don't have it.
I'm not sure how to download it from Amazon because when I purchased an audio book from them I can play it on my computer but it doesn't show up on my iPod...obviously it 's me not knowing how to do it correctly ;)
Classic episode--the modern man, his head filled with visions of easy money and fast cars, incapable of understanding the true beauty and mystery of this thing called life.
Hautning and gorgeous. The rock band British Sea Power cover this song on their new, mostly instrumental album "Man of Aran". They changed the melody slightly, but it's still lovely.
Because the male actor's dad was Bing Crosby. But seriously, the male character is just eager to exploit the hillbilly female and steal her beautiful song so that he can record it in rockabilly style to further his career. He had just coaxed her into singing it for him so that he could kipe it.
Someone please ask her if there are more stanzas of this beautiful song that didn't make it into the episode. Many TV and movie soundtracks from the golden era of Hollywood wound up in a landfill to build a freeway in LA. They weren't appreciated until recently. The studios got tired of storing them. Many of these orchestral arrangements and songs had additional lyrics that got cut in the editing process, but were worth preserving.
Yeah, I miss her, what a voice! Only Randy Watson's version is better than this one, he played Joe the Policeman on the What's Goin' Down episode of That's My Mama.
lol, he looks pretty retarded taken out of context. its from an episode of twilight zone, hes kinda impatient cuz he just wants to make money off the song, so hes like "yeah, awesome, now shut up and lets go make some money"
what is wrong with the guy in the video? if a girl would sing this awesome song to me with such an adorable voice i would either directly fall in love or start melting away ...
this is probably the best piece of melancholic music ever produced!
The episode is very cerebral - it's a conundrum, but oh so clever! It's my very favorite TZ episode. THE PASSERSBY, another TZ episode, is a close second.
The episode is called "Come Wander With Me," and it is from the last season of Twilight Zone. I absolutely love this episode. You can buy episodes on Amazon. I highly recommend it. I also recommend "The Passersby" and "Jess Bell." Both episodes feature haunting folksongs. The folksong in "The Passersby" is an authentic one, and it's hundreds of years old. It is "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair." Judy Collins sings a version of it that you can hear on Youtube.
There was also a French film, "An Ocurance at Owl Creek Bridge", that was purchased by producer William Froug and made into a "Twilight Zone" episode that had a song that was heard through most of the episode. In the episode, a man is about to be hung when he manages to escape and reach his home. Unfortunately, the lyrics gave away the ending of the story ("A living man, a living man, I'd rather be a living man").
Excellent!!! Just watched on The Twilight Zone. "Come Wander with Me," originally aired May 22, 1964. But this is only the first stanza of the song.
