I remember WLVI channel 56 began airing Brady bunch reruns in September 1975 and aired them continuously until 1997 that was the year that nick at nite acquired the rights to them and began airing them in June 1998.
Since after the Brady Bunch reran on WLVI-TV in 1988, it re-ran on UPN in 1995 (after the UPN network was premiered on January 11, 1995 (the same with the WB)).
Bradys at 5pm on wlvi. I remember that, used to eat dinner at 5pm and watch this show. Back in the day when hot dogs and kraft mac and cheese were my favorite.
In the summer it was the Monkees at 4:30pm and the Bradys at 5pm during the 1980-1982 seasons. I have lots of Dale Dorman's voiceovers due to the fact I used to record the Monkees TV show on cassette tape...Creature Double features on Saturdays!
Love this clip Thanks For the memories. Channel 56 wlvi was the greatest and for that matter so was TV 38 wsbk. lots of great memories of growing up watching those channels in the 70s and 80s
Wow, does that bring back memories! I don't live in Massachusetts, but I live in Connecticut, and had this channel for many years back when we had cable. That is, until they started in with that syndex crap, and were forced to drop it due to extensive blackouts. :(
I play the entire afternoon WLVI Schedule for my kids once a week. They love all the shows. I have them on dvd. Brady Bunch Monkees the old Bozo show. They love them all.
it sux there isn't a decient block of old shows on network or cable stations like their used to be and I don't mind TV Land for old shows but do love to mix it up a bit at times
That's why I said the hell with it & started making my own retro "programs" 3-6hrs long with shows from the 1960's-80's. I splice in promos & bumbers, retro commercials, station ID's, news clips/breaks, & even the classic CBS, NBC, etc "Movie of the Week/Midnight Movie" clips. When finished it will sorta be like, sitting down for an evening of TV in the 60's-80's. It's more nostalgic/retro feeling than just watching a classic show by itself. I can show you 1 when it's done if you like.
Sure thing! Glad you're interested & would love feedback. BTW, I was b'71. I am looking for more clips now. I want "Movie of the week" + movie NAME, not just the MotW clip. Those are cool to put before the movie. Also MotW "We now return to...such & such movie" clips. Only found 1 of those. I would insert that someplace IN the movie after a commercial, then get back to the movie. BTW, the "programs" will be a few hours long. I will probably need a file splitter to break them down.
@gjc82071 I would like to see that too. It's cool to see the old breaks in between, people will continue to dig this stuff as the boomers age. I've always really liked the old shows and miss the independent stations that ran mostly old movies and shows. Thank heaven for You Tube and people that upload cool stuff.
@toddcharry It's been a little harder than anticipated, but I haven't given up. The hardest thing isn't really finding movie of the week intros, it's finding ANY "We now return to "MOVIE", that came after commercial breaks. I have found only 1 of those, that I also have the movie intro for. Perhaps I am being to technical/perfect. I should just start out by splicing in some retro commercials/news breaks, etc. In my head, I now HOW I want, it's just a matter of finding what I need, ya know?
There were actually multiple versions of that jingle. Instead of "the kids' choice is", they'd sing "the choice is yours", "the movies are yours" or "the sports are yours", depending on which program they were advertising.
I lived in the Boston area from the 1960's to 2006. I used to watch WLVI alot. I wonder how they chose this ad. This station also claimed taht Benny Hill was funnier than Monty Python when they ran both shows in the late 70's/early 80's.
PS BTW Maureen McCormick (Marcia) has a lookalike in Christine Taylor (Marcia in the Brady Bunch Movie)simply because both of their roots go back to the British Isles! Similar genes
He is forgetful too. I had won a radio contest on Oldies 103.3- The contest was "What year was it" they play 3 songs and the first caller in gets to start the guessing. Well I was the first caller in one morning and guessed the right year 1975. He said I was incorrect and the next caller also said 1975 once again Old Dale said incorrect. Finally the 3rd caller said 1976 and Dale said he was right- WRONG. I immediately complained to the Radio Station! So Dale is an Old Crow!

There's just something very special and wonderful about post-network syndication promos from the 1980s.

As a child growing up in the 80's, I came home everyday from school and watched this show at 5pm.

i don't think anything epitomizes growing up in boston in the 80's quite as much as channel 56, dale dorman, and the brady bunch hour.

Good find! It not only has Dale Dorman but the vocal portion of the Living 56 jingle!
