  • I'm embarrassed that I'm just learning about Woody Shaw! What a beautiful tone, amazing dexterity, and strong sense of harmony...Thanks for posting!

  • wow, thanks for posting!

  • Isn't there a Woody Shaw transcription book available through woody shaw dot com with this solo in it ?

  • It seems like Woody, Freddie, and then everybody else...

  • 4:05 - octave jumping like it's whatever!! heavy

  • 1979年、ウディー・ショウ、OnGreenDolphinStreet~貴方の流麗でいて、刺のあるソロが当時の柔フュージョンを吹き飛ばした! #jazzm

  • OK...You got me on a Woody kick tonight...I should have been in bed hours ago. Thank you so much. As long as I've been a fan, I really appreciate you posting all of this unreleased material. This solo is ridiculous!!

  • 5 *

  • It's actually not a true flugelhorn. It's a cornet body with a large bell flare. There were only something like 200 produced. I toured with a guy who had one. My guess is that Woody is using a normal cornet mouthpiece as well, judging by the bite and range he has with this set up.

  • 余りにも悲惨な死、武骨、アグレッシブ、ウディー・ショウ、70~80年代アメリカジャズの屋台骨を支えてくれた #jazzm

  • gosh, damned and by jove !

  • best fluglehorn tone in my opinion it has a cosmic element to it. so glorious

  • Classic Woody Shaw, standing all alone amongst a sea a jazz trumpet players.

    untouchable..........

  • Woody you were the Shiz !!

Beautiful playing an inspiration to us all !!!

  • Woody is still my favorite trumpet player. I love Freddie and Fats Navarro, but Woody was truly one-of-a-kind.

  • Oooh Yeah

  • Oh yum!

  • No words...truly remarkable!

  • Thank you for your quick response.

  • What a great performance it is!

Woody's flugelhorn(?) is really brilliant enough.

And I guess the drummer playing with Woody may be Jack DeJohnette.

Does someone know whether it is true or not?

  • Flugel, yes.

    DeJohnette, no.

    Victor Lewis, yes.

  • @SATOSHEEEE The horn was a prototype made for Woody, involving a cornet body with a small flugelhorn bell made by Bach. There are about 250 in existence today. You'll know right away when you see one.

  • This solo is a motherfucker!!
