I just read a survey done in 2007 (I wanted to paste that link so you can read the survey for yourself, but YouTube wouldn't allow me to paste that link) and the Philippines was given a rating of 7.00 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the most corrupt. That rating placed your country as the 6th most corrupt in Asia.
@xake19. I don't think POPULATION IS OUT OF CONTROL is the main reason why poverty in the Philippines is significant. Obviously it contributed but I think the mismanagement of government budget and corruption is the main cause of this. Philippine islands have enough resources. Maybe we could ask the people in the house of representatives and other government officials who wear barong tagalog and Filipiniana almost everyday why this is happening. They know because most of them are the culprits.
I truly believe one of the principal ways to combat poverty is cleanliness. Eliminating waste can also eliminate waste born viral and bacterial disease such as typhoid and cholera. This in turn leads to a healthier society which can do more action like having the extra effort to get better jobs. Waste-less places can also improve tourism and foreign corporations to expand here thus leading to a boost in the economy. A reduced crime rate since there is less hiding places to store illegal stuf

In the Philippines, this is seen at a remarkable rate. The population will double in less than 20 years to 180 million people. Why? because the Church and the fat Cardinals won't let the government implement planned parenthood. There are only so much soil in the land my friends. Some will have to drown from overcrowding.
China, India are poised to take over the world as super powers. Their people are empowered to do something and economically they are STAGGERING superpowers. The Catholics are reliant on prayers and this attitude of "let's pray and see what happens" attitude.
European Catholics are rich and powerful because they became SECULAR (got rid of the Pope). By gettting rid of the Church I meant, becoming SECULAR. The peasants reproduce so much because the Church won't stop it.
These problems go round in circles to these 3 factors. More corruption, less opportunities, less taxes, less public service and of course, poor subsidized public education.
I may agree that somewhere on the point; overpopulation does affect one's economy; but there are major issues particulary in Philippnes; corruption, less opportunities and dwindling quality of eduction....these things contribute greatly to poverty.
Poverty and Overpopulation are end results of "corruption", "unemployment" or less businesses, (less tax) and low quality of subsidized publi education.
poor Philippines, It used to be the in the top 3 richest Asian country in the world but now it keeps getting low. In Marcos era, only Marcos and his cronies used to corrupt but now it's a livelihood even in the lowest branch and they will really kill for greed. I just read a survey done in 2007 (I wanted to paste that link so you can read the survey for yourself, but YouTube wouldn't allow me to paste that link) and the Philippines was given a rating of 7.00 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the most corrupt. That rating placed your country as the 6th most corrupt in Asia.

Then another survey was done in 2008 and the Phil. was given a rating of 9.40 making it the MOST CORRUPT IN ASIA.
Another survey was done last year and it placed the Phil. as the 4th most corrupt country with a rating of 8.06.

Obviously it contributed but I think the mismanagement of government budget and corruption is the main cause of this. Philippine islands have enough resources. Maybe we could ask the people in the house of representatives and other government officials who wear barong tagalog and Filipiniana almost everyday why this is happening. They know because most of them are the culprits.

I truly believe one of the principal ways to combat poverty is cleanliness. Eliminating waste can also eliminate waste born viral and bacterial disease such as typhoid and cholera. This in turn leads to a healthier society which can do more action like having the extra effort to get better jobs. Kaya din malilibog ang mga taong mahihirap pagkat ang daming walang trabaho, palagi silang nasa bahay at walang magawa kundi libangan ang mga asawa nila.
Kung kinukulong ang nagpapaaborsyun dapat din ikulong ang mga mangmang na hinde kayang pakainin ang dalawa nilang anak at dinadagdagan pa, yan ang dapat gawin na batas ng gobyerno.

Kung ang may pinag- aralan at matatalinong tao nagkakamali pa kaya sila gumagamit ng contraceptives, kaelangan bang ipaubaya ng gobyerno ang mga taong mas lalong mga tanga na walang gagamitin para hinde na sila magkaanak?

Ang totoo, madaming mahihirap na ayaw na nilang magkaanak pero pag ang mayor sinasara ang city funded health centers katulad sa Manila na nagdudulot ng libreng contraceptives at condoms sa kanila, natural na dadami ng kanilang mga pamilia. Kung ang mamamayaman pati mga nasa gobierno nakaka afford ng birth control pills at contraceptives at tinatago pa ang pag aabortion nila- wala lng nagsusumbong, bakit hinde matulongan ng gobyerno ang mahihirap para hinde na lumaki ang popolasyun ng bansa?

Kung totoong madaming irresponsable, pabababayan lng ba ng gobyerno yan dahil yan ang gusto din ng simbahan? Kahit madaming lalaki sa hirap na walang mga makain, magpupulubi o magdedepende sa eba? Hindi naman sila natutulongan ng gobyerno at kulang ang pera sa mga charitale institution at ang simbahan hindi matulongan lahat dahil sa dami. Kaya may mga gobyerno para paunlarin at hindi mapabayaan ang bansa, responsibilidad nila yan. Dahil dyan napakabagal ang progreso ng ekonomiya sa ating bansa.

Dahil kadamihan ang nasa gobyerno ay mga katoliko, nakokosyensia sila pag ang mga pinapasang bill ay kontra sa katolikong relihyon. Alam nila na pag may prenopropos na bill para ma kontrol ang papolasyun, nagtatatag ng mga rali ang mga tao pinamumunohan ng mga archbishops at cardinals sa katoliko para mabara ang bill na yun. Sa katunayan ayaw ng mga myembro sa gobyerno na mapahiya sa mga simbahan na pinaglilingkoran nila pero sa totoo naman hindi sila talaga mga relihyoso.

Hindi mapipigilan makipagtalik ang lalake at babae, kasal o hindi. Hindi rin maiiwasan ang nabubuntisan sa pagkakamali. Ang katoliko ay laban sa pagpaplano ng pamilya kaya nila pinagbabawalan sa mamamayan ang pagagamit ng contraceptives. Kung may nagiiwas na magkaanak dahil marami na sila nagkakamali pa. Hangang may lakas na palakad ng gobyerno para mabawasan ang mga pagkakamali na yan tuloy ang pagparami ng mga taong lalaki sa hirap sa mga hindi kaya.

Hangang hindi magbabago ang POBRISYUN NG KATOLIKO tungkol sa aborsyon sa PHILIPPINE CONSTITUTION walang magagawa kahit mga politician kasi malakas ang impluwensiya ng mga archbishop sa gobierno. Madaming gumagawa ng aborsyun pag may pera pero tinatago para hindi sila maaresto. Mga mahihirap lng di kayang aborsyun kaya sila nagkakaanak ng madami. Ayaw lang ng simbahan gawing legal ang birth control pero di nila ini encourage ang manganak ng manganak, nasa iyo pa rin kung gumamit ka ng birth control method di ka naman nila pinipigilan.
Ang totoong problema natin masyado tayong namumulitika sa halip na paunlarin ang sariling kabuhayan kaya naghihirap, puro reklamo, paninisi kung sino sino, ano ano. Tingnan nyo na lang mga Hapon, Koreano, Tsino, Singapore mga productive sila dahil di sila masyado sa politika kundi sa sariling ekonomiya.

It pretty much has to approve all government laws passed behind closed doors. There is rampant out of control population explosion that has the blessing of the Church despite government attempts to control it. Only an official declaration of SECULARISM can the country survive. Both our Philippine government officials & majority of the filipinos are to blame.Government graft & corruption & not enforcing reproductive health bill resulting of population booming were the main reason of mass poverty.But only if a self impose by the couple itself adopting one child policy like I do,& I'm sure we filipinos can,poverty in our country will reduce in the future and may enhance better standard living to each of everyone. Believe me, adopting one child policy is the solution.

China is he THIRD LARGEST economy in the world. It is doing something right and that's because it the 70's they started population control policy under Deng. If it weren't for that the population would be more. Poverty comes from population out of control like the Philippines. Corruption has ver little to do with it. Even if all money were accounted for it would not cure the ills and malays of population doubling in 18 yrs and quadruple in 40 yrs to 360 million people!!!

Dont give money to feed these poor children. Their parents will only produce more poor children as a result. I say give these parents free condoms, birth control pills, Deprovera shots, and tell the Church not to meddle with government affairs to control population explosion. If you give a person a fish they will eat it and be hungry again, but if you show them how to fish, they will not be hungry again.

Over population out of control, if you ask even the most IDIOTIC of all economist will tell you that it does affect the economy at an abject rate. Everybody knows that. In the Philippines, this is seen at a remarkable rate. The population will double in less than 20 years to 180 million people. Why? because the Church and the fat Cardinals won't let the government implement planned parenthood. There are only so much soil in the land my friends. Some will have to drown from overcrowding.

On the other side, let us take Nepal...just 28M but a poor country...
The point here is; you could not connect "poverty" to mainly caused by overpopulation....

China, India are poised to take over the world as super powers. Their people are empowered to do something and economically they are STAGGERING superpowers. The Catholics are reliant on prayers and this attitude of "let's pray and see what happens" attitude.
European Catholics are rich and powerful because they became SECULAR (got rid of the Pope). By gettting rid of the Church I meant, becoming SECULAR. The peasants reproduce so much because the Church won't stop it.

I may agree that somewhere on the point; overpopulation does affect one's economy; but there are major issues particulary in Philippnes; corruption, less opportunities and dwindling quality of eduction....these things contribute greatly to poverty.
Poverty and Overpopulation are end results of "corruption", "unemployment" or less businesses, (less tax) and low quality of subsidized publi education.
