I watched Desert Hearts with my parents when I was really young. The author of the book the movie is based upon, Jane Rule, is an alumna of the college I went to, Mills College in Oakland. This is one of the most influential queer films in history - well received critically and widely distributed. We have it at the library (as well as many many queer films as the selector is a flaming gay man). My point is, everyone should check their local public library for queer films.

I'm so glad you mentioned "Small Town Gay Bar" because it's def. something that the GLBTQ community that are in more metro areas needs to see. I lived in NE Mississippi for a year and actually visited one of the bars in the movie. It's def. worth watching for those lucky enough to not be from the South.

Hedwig is my all time movie too! I watch it at least once a month because it is the only video on my ipod! I saw a stage performance (not the origonal one) too!

I also play the flute. Well, I did.

I was confused as a child about the "being a guy" thing. I knew I liked girls but thought only guys could like girls but guys repulsed me! Now I know that I don't have to have a mullet and carry a tool belt!
