This has to be one of the most powerful final scenes in movie history. William Holden nailed the scene with passion and conviction. The perfect picture of a leader.
You are SO right! It's one of my favorite scene in all of cinema history! Quite moving & powerful! It never fails to entertain & enlighten me! I never get tired of watching it! You are obviously a person of rare taste & distinction! CHEERS! :-)
@Hiraghm - Oh, those poor, poor rich people! Practically on the breadline! Down to their last corporate jet. The hounded and harassed 1%! What is wrong with us 99%? The unwashed and ungrateful! We should be grateful to our 'betters' for the junk they produce. We should be grateful that they invented 'built in obsolescence' so our landfills overflow and our finite planet is polluted and destroyed. Hiraghm - you're being made a 'shmuck' of! LOL!

@Ethicalthinker - explain to me what good paying taxes does for the rich? What do they get out of it?
The 99% is an invented myth based on BS statistics. Yes, you should be grateful to your betters for the junk that can be produced because they direct the companies, because they take the responsibilities and chances that a retarded monkey on the assembly line doesn't have to take.
@Ethicalthinker - and if you think our planet is polluted and destroyed, you should take a trip back 100-150 years. If you think our planet is polluted and destroyed, you should go back about 3.5 billion years and take a deep breath of the air as it originally was...
Poor people will have access to "affordable" furniture. But they also have a *right* that whatever furniture they spend their hard-earned money on is *quality*, just as is the "expensive" furniture that the wealthy pay for.
An expensive table may be made from exotic woods and have decorative trim, and won't scratch or break easily. An inexpensive table may be made from common wood and lack trim, but also won't scratch or break easily.
I just saw this movie the other night and recorded this scene! THANK YOU for posting it and saving me the trouble! THIS is what we need to broadcast far and wide before the Nov 2 Midterms!
My God! Yes! People do want to work, and they do want to do something, or make something that is useful, and whether they know it or not, they don't really want to work only for money, at the price of their souls! Wonderful!
THANK YOU for sharing this powerful scene with us. I love this movie....I can watch it over & over and never get tired of it! TOP NOTCH all the way: cast, story, production design, art direction, photography, etc etc etc. It speaks as powerfully to our society & the human condition today as it did back in the mid 50's. You've MADE my day & my weekend! :)
William Holden was such an outstanding actor.Such passionate power in that resounding speech.I am always moved to tearful inspiration whenever I watch that. Thank you so much for posting , and well done Mr Holden.
The Tredway Company was making a big mistake by being concerned only about proffit. Which is a sure to fail as a business. William Holldand, was so right by say good business is about being proud to put your name on somehting. Business owners being concerned only about profit are sure to fail in the long run. Team work is so improtant and having all employees on the same page. The quarterback does not win the game alone. The key to a good business repeat business,

Does anyone know the dividend yield Tredway stock is currently paying?

@MrYellowlabs
I'll have to ask the next time I go shopping for Tredway furniture. A good quality product & well-run company can usually ride out any recession.

While I agree with the sentiment of this scene wholeheartedly...
Ask Wal-mart what they think of this scene.
