good job. you got talent and the love for the music. u seem pretty relaxed to me. I was told that singing is the art of relaxation. i like to do yoga like breathing/relaxation b4 singing and then let her rip "like a punk rock singer"
we have to sing this for vocal and the words are actually the morphine part he sings! depressing but the original version. but this song is sooooo sad!!!
that was a good version.... i look around for original country blues tracks...and watch so many covers and i hate nearly all of them ...but that was a nice surprise.
i was skeptic when i saw the mouse then i heard "irene" dont make me tear up...its cool you all keep the old music alive.....and it is alive....thanks

is it bad that im 16 and this song makes me want to cry what is the chords for this song
johnnyhorton2 4 years ago
I play it in A, so it involves just three chords of A, E, and D. Maybe there is a "more correct" way to play it. Sounds nice in A though.
Leadbelly is quite the artist, that is for sure.

leadbelly wrote this song in 1934

Leadbelly's version became the most popular, although one source says the song dates from 1886, written by Gussie L. Davis.
