  • The old lie: It is sweet and decorous to die for their country

  • This sent a shiver down my spine. This Wifred Owen classic was the 1st ever poem I heard recited at school way back in 1971,when I was 11 years old.Am I correct in thinking that the line translates as 'It is sweet and fitting to die for one's country'? Or something along those lines. How embarrassing that I can't remember! The 1st World War,supposedly the 'war to end all wars'.

  • Thankyou for this.

  • Good poem, good footage, sobering thoughts.

  • Those who forget History are condemned to repeat it!

  • @sikmagpie disagree. There are many people who remember history and repeat it. I would argue those who fail to learn the lesson from history are condemned to repeat it. The lesson is important, not the story, the facts or the figures

  • @MusicStudyMan but less people will.... they will see the real things that happen and would not want to repeat it..the ones who would are just sick of mind
