haha lol, phelps is NOT eating 12K a day...think for a minute dude...its just some other myth to enlarge the hero-status of a prof. swimmer.
the things he named for his diet are not even near 12K...

During training he eats 8 to 10,000 I've seen in interviews he doesnt know where the 12k came up but like you said it was to hype up the story.
