Waterworld and The Postman are by far the best movies i have ever seen. Kevin Costner is the number one actor for epic movies, he is far above phenomenal

This movie was definitely better everyone said. I mean it had some sill stuff in it, and parts of it were just ripped off from the road warrior, but it was still a good movie.

Waterworld is one of the most underrated movies ever made. Anyone who calls this movie shit doesn't know what they are talking about. Why is this movie supposed to be bad? It's a film about pirates fighting on the water. It's awesome! The fact that they even made this movie should be considered a true achievement! I think a lot of people hate Kevin Costner, because so many of his movies are thought to be lame even though they kick ass! Robin Hood, Waterworld, Postman, Dances with Wolves. Badass.

I think as moviegoers we have to take our own chances on what we pay to see in theaters. I have never listened to the critics and sometimes I have seen some shitacular movies. But Iv gone to ones that they said were terrible and was very surprised by how good it was. Everyone's taste is different.

Back when big studios were willing to take risks and didn't just churn out comic book adaptations and remakes! A flawed film, but still enjoyable. And the coolest boat in cinematic history.

I think costner being such a bad/selfish character in this film put ppl off.Its not a bad film at all.Final fantasy the spirits within is a great cgi film yet that didnt do as well as expected,i suppose their should be a crap film that done well category,to me that is paranormal activity 1,rubbish,utter rubbish.imo.

@chicorico70 It was expensive to make because of budgetary mismanagement, poor location choices (the WINDIEST spot in the Pacific), unexpected storms, a sinking piece of the set & supposedly because the local businesses in Hawaii gouged the cast & crew for basic services like food, hotel rooms, etc. Also, it's not the most original story out there, it's really just an expensive remake of The Road Warrior. Has it's fine moments, great stuntwork, but it's really not a GREAT film.

I love this movie and the toxic buzz surrounding it before it even came out was unfair and unnecessary. It's a decent film, and a very difficult one to make as well. Whenever people scoff and say it lost a lot of money, I inform them that the movie was a hit everywhere else outside the U.S. -- places that hadn't heard the negative publicity. In the end, with worldwide sales and cable and rentals, the movie made quite a profit. It was far from being a failure.
