When I first started learning songs by ear I'd certainly get frustrated. But it's just looks anything else, the more you do it the easier it gets. Eventually it becomes second nature. The benefit of learning tunes this way is invaluable. Ear training is perhaps the best way to improve your musicianship. Versus sifting through internet tab an amateur made that is full of mistakes.

Take it a step further and transcribe, then you can really disect what's going on in the music.
