Spartans, fought the Atheneans, the Thebans and so on. Ancient Macedonians were very clearly Greek since they had the same customs, traditions, religion, language and so on with the rest of the ancient Greeks. They also had Greek names, and there is a LOT in a name!

@vetdino Well Alexandros and Philippos don't mean anything in our language! we just call them Alexandar and Filip (Александар и Филип)......I don't want to argue about the NAME because its all mixed up,so we can't say that we are THE BIG MACEDONIA!! We were a part of it and that is all! But the bad thing is that when they split us up after 1913 (the 1 Balkan war) The part that belonged to Serbia was quickly turned in to Serbia(the language and and the culture) and same with the Bulgarians.

The Macedonians called the land Macedonia. Not everyone who lived in Macedonia is Macedonian apparently.
A Bulgarian who lived in Macedonia, he is still a Bulgarian. A Bulgarian who lived and lives in Canada, he is still a Bulgarian, not a Canadian. He may be a Canadian citizen but his ancestry is still Bulgarian.
