I test jumped the c-17 when it come out for use as transport for 82nd. Thats right..HMFIC took us to green ramp, Pope AFB to make us aware of the great honor it was to TEST jump so that this platform could be proven viable for a central role. Pitching us good ole bullet catchers out the door ontop of some poor sap in Korea/ Iraq etc. That was 1997. I am here to tell you the 30 seconds of "fun" you all witness here is preceeded with 8 hours of BULLSHIT and the last thing a jump was to me was FUN!
actually thats classified secret info you are asking for, you have to have "secret" clearance to start airborne school. Lots of access to pretty planes and air fields and other thatn that the AI's always said how how we jumped in training and combat wasnt really a well guarded secret but "If any one asks its none of their fucking buisness LEG!" But you can do some reckoning with tree line and figure it up pretty simple. But it no shit is "Actually" classified.
This looks like an amazing time. Thinking about enlisting into the military just for the comradery you always hear about. Looking into airborne school as well. Seems like a blast falling from the sky!
wouldnt see shit bro, it aint like they got stadium light set for you to get a good look around! the only indication you have that you are about to hit the ground is about a millisecond before your ass smears across the ground, your rucksack hits as it is suspended beneath you by about 25 feet.
Soft Sicily beats the hell out of hard ass Holland, my cherry blast was at Sicily, my 50th was too, as was 100, over 20 years almost all at Bragg, xcept Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm. Been a few years away now but I miss it, wouldn't trade my time at Bragg for nothing.
no you don't get to ride the Blue Bird back, you get to hump the tank trails, past the wash rack, take a left at mates and end up at ALL AMERICAN pt field HOOAH!
The Plane is a C-17, we can drop 102 paratroopers in 1 pass when both troop doors are in operation. I just dropped on Sicily DZ last week. With 5 jets and 2 lifts we put around 1000 troops on the DZ that night.
i remember sicily---my husband joined the jump club--was 7 months pregnant -he landed in a tree--the first of many---he loves trees---lmao-armymom2srvng-cath
Man, its crazy that I miss that. ....I never thought while I was in that I would ever miss it...some days I can't stop thinking about it. Cool vid. It brings back some memories.
That's pretty sad! We pushed a 130 in 19 seconds in 4/325 on Sicily. We were fucking bad asses back then!!!
