Sounds good. Only thing missing is da riddim guitar going "chick-it, chick-it" and I'd be jammin it for real. Oh, and I don't know if you answered the question. Someone asked why you used your thumb. The thumb changes the sound, drops and dulls it down a bit, we like that in reggae.
why do use you use your thumb to pluck? not the best technique...couldn't really hear what you were playing over my laptop speakers, but if it was cool, then much love.
@MarloweDK - there is no muted picking in reggae bass typically. I think what you're trying to imitate is the sound a muted guitar picking along with the bass.. Very common mistake..
@yourmanwatson No, im imitating the sound of flatwound strings with permanent muted strings. This a common technique in emulating muted sounds in general on bass. Im not talking about "nailing" the style Reggae in specific
@MarloweDK Oh ok cool.. sounds good any way you call it. Yeah I know what you mean about that technique. I use it every now and then.. I think my comment reads as more "know-it-all" than I meant it to sound. Music is music.. I was just trying to help with the specifics of that genre. No dis :)
@MarloweDK There is indeed muted picking in reggae bass, its called Dub, its a subgenre of reggae and sounds amazing! Also in alot of reggae songs in breakdowns the bass mute picks to put more emphasis on the drums, while keeping the melody there!
@fredthebluetakman You're mistaken. Muted picking or fingering is not called dub. Muting the strings is just a technique to create a 'dull' or 'rounder' sound similar to the sound of an upright bass. One doesn't need to play the bass in a special manner for dub, the engineer is the one doing the manipulation of sounds and effects on all the instruments, not just bass.
It's a known fact that the first person to view a video and then post a triumphant comment about it is a loser. This person usually has body odor and very bad skin. Just sayin'.

This bassline would have more meaning with an instrument that plays the chords (like piano or guitar). Nice sound.
