HI MR,,Ty for this video...i want heelp:(((dude,,i have some units,,and i have TSL 122 too..i dont know how i can series my Units and How i can Use two SEND and Return on TSL 122,,my equipment is:Dd7 Boss.Digital reverb, super Chorus, compression sustainer,,metal zone,,ROLAND GR 55..i want to series this units with roland gr 55,,How i must do that?(in Correct WAY i mean)and how i must use those send and return?another question,,what is EMULATED line out?can i record something instead of mic?
Maybe a stupid question... but would it be possible to put an effect pedal between your head and your cab? I mean It's like the exact same cable that runs from your guitar to the amp. Or am I wrong?
@hyperliteBo No! Don't try that. Effects are designed for low-power inputs. The signal from an amplifier has been--guess what--highly amplified. Here's something you should know: cables that go to cabinets are different than the ones you plug into your guitar. They're built to handle the more powerful signal.
Hey toneking, what if your a bedroom player? Would it be fine to just hookup all my pedals in front of the amp if I put the pedals in the right order because my jet city 20 watt combo does not have an effects loop? Would I still be able to achieve good tone? Help would be much appreciated. Thanks!!
Tone King, I have an FX Loop question. I want a pedal that can lower the level that my effects loop is at. There's a knob on my amp that does it, but it takes too long to use in a live setting. I want to be able to hit a button and be able to let the effects not be as prominent and then hit it again to turn it back on for my solo's. Any such pedal exist?
another thing you can do is you can put effects pedALS threw the mixing board loop on the sme channel that your amp miked is on meaning you add effects to the miked signals
This idea only works if the sound man in question knows your songs and when and where to add effects. There are plenty of outboard effects loopers to loop pedals etc on the market.
Thanks for the vids TTK. The weird thing is I would run my amp like this even if I had an effects loop. Things like chorus, delay, and reverb mess with the output stage of most amps too much for my tastes. This is the way to run time based effects and not screw up you amps tone. You know, the one you paid thousands of dollars for only to screw the tone up with a $150 pedal. :)
several things to do if the mixing has an fx loop and you got pedals run them threw the channel your miced into or like Tone king says have the sound guy add fx from the board
You mentioned that the Vox Night Train was running thru a 4X12 Cab. I know you mix and match many of your heads with different Cabs. Do you think the Cab that comes with the Head sounds the best? Just asking cause Egnater's 2X12 Cab is almost the same size as some others 4X12 cabs and weighs 65lbs, very well made also.
@hawg427 Hey Big Lou - MFRs will argue that their cab is best. They 'picked' the speaker to compliment the amps tone. But, tone is so subjective - it's tough to say which is best. Most will just buy the matching cab, just because it matches, but who knows. I will tell you, the Egnater uses 'their copies' of Celestion Classic Lead 80s, which I happen to like. But, for that kinda dough, maybe just get a 2x12 of your choice and load up the speakers of your choice??
Hey TTK, I just want to say that this was pretty helpful. It's always awesome to get some real TIPS from real players. Sure you're a "shred" or at least heavy genre type of guy, but these tips can be used by anyone in any style! keep up more vids like these! 5* + Fav!
if you're not playing live with a soundman then you're pretty much screwed.
I play bass, and run bass, effects, amp. And my amps had effects loops. but I've never owned a tube amp, so my tone was consistent at lower volumes as it was at higher ones . But great tip for those who do play live and in pro studios.
Both my amps have effects loops but I don't even both with them since delays never seem to sound right right. All other effects are fine before the loop anyway. It is tough though, because in small venues the amps are not mic'd except for the bleed into the vocal mics..
This is always why you want to try to get along with the sound man at the club you are playing. If you go in with a chip on your shoulder and act like an ass not only can he make you sound like shit you can also forget getting any effects.
The other good thing about reverb/delay after mic = it is placed after power amp distortion! That is something NOT even an amp with effects loop can do because they will sound crap when you cranked up power amp distortion with delay/reverb. Reverb/delay after mic/power amp is more realistic!
So for example sorry if Im asking shit, u guys can tell me later... If I just want delays and reverb for solos or in the middle or some part of the song so it means that I have to talk and combine first with the guy just add the effects in a specific time or when I sign to him, right? Is it work like this too? Sorry bad english and thanks. Great Videos lmsjr-san! Cheers.
@andretoyo absolutely! In fact - that is what I used to do. A good soundman will have the set, and will know when you're going into a solo. Absolutely.
If you watch the whole video, he explains how. If you play a gig and mic your amp, your sound is running through the mixing board, so you can ask the sound guy to add some delay, reverb or other effects to your mic'd signal. Also works if you have an effects loop, but can't afford to buy any effects pedals.
thx man! I don't know why, but when I watched the video playback, my comment made me laugh. It's always good when you can make yourself laugh :-). JCA20H vid being uploaded now. It's cut, and It's ready!! Will be live in a few.
i put my effects infront of a modelling amp. Work perfectly.

I like when TTK jams out on more classic sounding hard rock rather than metal. I think that's where he sound the most authentic.

what is an FX loop?
JoshGoldie 11 months ago
@JoshGoldie an effects loop allows you to put effects such as delays or modulations after your amps natural distortion.

this solution isnt very particle.
i have played places where the sound guy didnt even know what reverb is and just knew how to change the level with a fader.

You could just run your pedal(s) through the front input, right? Or no.
