This is very interesting, i haev a question. Lets say i wanted to use the Shape Keys to set body types.(ie: Muscular, Skinny, Tall, etc) How would i go about doing so with the Shape Key and be able to export that so that whatever game engine i choose to use can read them? Great example of what im talking about is most MMO games let you change your character features, like nose size, eyes, eyebrows, as well as body size and muscle size.
@Hellblaze123 The FBX format that is used by game engines such as Unity only supports bones, so you would have to do some sort of morphing based on bones to get what you are talking about to work. the method shown here is used for rendered animations mostly.
Thats strange... I added basis like you did in the video and added after that a new shape. Then I deformed my new :" O " shape. After I finished, I changed it back to Object mode, but it didn't turn back to the basis form T.T . I tried to switch from my "O" form to my basis but nothing is happening and it still keeps the deformed form...
The idea behind shape keys is very different from armatures. Shape keys are for moving the vertices of a model "by hand" to a pose then morphing between them. I think you are looking form my Pose tutorial. Look at my other tutorials and you will see one for recalling Armature poses.
Unfortunately, that is not what I'm talking about. That's a different thing altogether. I think I'll keep looking for my answer. There's has to be an easier way around it.
I am having trouble with the Essential with blender book. On the section of Animating Shape Keys..There's a "pop up shape menu" thing mentioned in the book, but I can't find that... I need help for that.
I don't know what the book is mentioning, but if you follow my tutorial you should have no problems. I think they are referring to the fact that when you create a new shape, a new slider shows up in the shape key window.
While you are modeling the shapes, tobble the "x-axisi mirror" in "mesh tools more" panel, so you are editing your mesh in one side and it reflect the change in the other side!
Good tutorial.
keep going.

I'm actually using a armature to make a model to talk. Is there any way I can make shape keys on the armature?
