The FIM-92 stinger is and extremely effective weapon against aircraft. Use the missile's wisely and at perfect timing though as it takes a long time for the missile to lock on again, when locking on to an aircraft wait till the lock on is confirmed ( a constant ringing ) before firing the missile wait about 10-15 seconds to see if the pilot launches flares just after these flares have been deployed is the perfect time to re-lock on and fire! If the pilot has not launched flares fire then.

One of the best known ways which I have discovered over my years as a Battlefield engineer it that when using a heat seeking missile,once flairs have been popped by the oposing aircraft the the missile wont hit the aircraft (of coarse) so,to ovoid this if a missile is very close to the aircraft,i.e. attack helicopters face to face,if the missile(s) are very close to the aircraft when flares are popped it will be too late,the missile will hit the aircraft.

The BEST way is: 1 player is a Recon with the SOFLAM which can laser-designate vehicles. Some other People have Javelin and its game over for the aircraft.

Use squad explosive perk, and equip stingers. Work as a team, always run round the battlefield together, 1 person locks on to the aircraft and fires, making the aircraft fire its flares. Get ure squad member to lock on again str8 after and guarantee a vehicle disable/destory.

In the jet, heat seeker/chaingun combo. Lock on, fire missiles and follow up with chaingun in the tail of your enemy. Also, spot spot spot! If youre on the ground and running to an area and you see a enemy jet, spot it for the jet fighters! Help your team!

best way is with another aircraft, and using the chaingun or with javelins / guided missiles when a recon placed his laser is nice, and your doing a good job waiting for the flares and then locking again :D

Peeps need to level up and unlock the cool stuff, lasers will be used a lot soon enough hehe.

when you are in a jet, you lock on, keep locked, turn on afterburners if theres are on so when you make thos sharp turns you follow well, keep locked on theylle get scarred and pop flares once they do its over take em out they have no defenses, same thing for lock on rockets wait for flares to pop, theyle get scared once they know your locked on

@snikliwnhoj dont use afterburners while turning, use break then you can make sharper turns ;)

throttle, break & turn, throttle out the turn! thats the fastest sharp turn!

And I personally use the chaingun on jets, since that doesn't warn them I'm behind their ass shooting them down. Using the guided missiles as secondary too shoot down the tanks / trucks / etc :D

@LoremasterTsurugi yup to make them sharp turns, but im saying like when they have theres on it can effect how much you turn with them and effect the aim from my experiences, but good advice, im not a huge guided missle fan tho, the heat seekers or missle pods are near and dear to my heart personally lol

If in the air use the heat seekers but shoot one first. If they flare then shoot the 2nd one. Cannon works well too if you can fly & keep pace w/the other plane. On the ground the Stinger works; keep in mind you cannot shoot one missile after another. I also have seen tanks take em down too...mostly helis though but I'm sure a heat seeker would work once it's unlocked.

The sweetest way is allways Air to Air awsomeness imo but you need to be a bit of a Vet with a nice stick setup for that realy.

Once your missile locks on, then you wait for a while and if they use flares then fire. Works for me alot, but there are already some really good fliers that no matter how many missiles you shoot at them they can dogde it .

All anyone needs to do is get on foot, maybe have the extra explosives spec (more rockets), and just fire away. They reload twice as fast as any jet/helo can produce flares/ECMJammer. If they're stupid enough to be close enough to the ground, or in the open. They're dead.

Also, there is no AT4 in this game. Last Engineer rocket unlock is the Javelin.

Helicopters.. lol any noob can shoot them down... But Jets. WAY OVERPOWERED If you find a good jet piloit it is Near Impossible to shoot him down, with anti air missles.

@LethalFrag here is a thought: do they have a manualy guided AT Rocket launcher like they do in BFBC2? Because if you are shooting down a helicopter ,lean the reticle to the left and the right end of the screen and you should be able to destroy it, I have seen it happen in BFBC2 montages.. it take practice though

I played Bad Company 2, and that's it for the BF franchise... I've always been a COD player, but i'm pretty good on BF3.

I use the engineer class about 75% of the time... Just gotta make good use of the Stinger and such if you want to shoot down stuff. Tanks are horrible, but can still do a bit of damage, enough to annoy. mobile AA units are fantastic, especially after you get the targeted missiles. Otherwise, i'm usually in an aircraft myself shooting things out of the sky. lol

dont fire it right after u get the lock so if they panic they drop the flares to early

Just stayed up all night playing with the jets. I unlocked so much I think my last unlock was rocket pods Heat seekers are a blast!!! PROTIP after you get a lock don't fire right away(if possible). why? because some noob pilots will deploy there flares right away before you even shoot your missle, giving you time to get another lock and get off your SAM or heat seekers before there jet can regenerate more flares. Happy hunting!

AA-vehicles are very effective against little birds and transport and also those which are piloted by new players...

AA-vehicles are very defenseless against aircrafts and helicopters.

If a jet attacks using the "Eagle's diving" the Anti-Air tank doesn't have any chance, and even more because it can be very good seen on the map. THAT'S FACT!!!

A player with an AA-gun in the shadow or between some trees/rocks is a very difficult target, but dangerous if he uses my technique.

So, first of all you must have the "Stinger" or the "IGLA"... Always look at the map and stay next to the FRIENDLY vehicles: Tanks or Helicopters. Why? Because those units will be your "bait" to "fish" the enemies :D

Now try to stay always in the shadow, next to an object or not. Between some rocks, but always in the shadow. Now aim and lock on the enemy... wait for a time to the enemy use flares, so you won't lose a rocket. Now lock on again and shoot. BOOM!!!

I think it depends a lot on how the plane/heli is moving. Sometimes just keeping the helicopter on its toes moving around a lot is just as good as shooting it down since its having a harder time to fire down on you/others.

One of the better ways if you want to bring it down with a stinger is probably bring a buddy since flares have an insane recharge rate, though pilots will vow otherwise. So one shoots hits flares then you shoot and hit it.
