  • Was für eine blöde, schlichte Runmmelmusik.

so einen Käse hat sich tatsächlich verkauft?

Nicht Religion, Pop-Musik ist Opium für die kleinen Leute.......

  • Apparently Dave Clark doesn't drum on too many of the hits (to say the least). Rumors Rick Huxley didn't play the bass on every song either. Denny Payton was actually a good sax player. Smith and Davidson could play as well (keys and guitar).

Thing is, the band played locally and live in the Tottenham area for 4 years or so before making it big. They also played live on their tours. So, to say they couldn't play their instruments is sort of silly.

Session players were used at times. Meh.

  • something tells me the dc5 didnt play their own instruments....i would love to see clear evidence of it if they did........you'd think if there was any it would be beat club.

  • This is a catchy tune that would have had bubblegum audience appeal. But "hey" it was 1969. This along with songs like the Red Balloon made my favorite group as a young teenager go POP.

  • fab xxx1-00000000********** xbabs

  • La la la superb superb DC5 along with RED BALLOON & EVERYBODY KNOWS 68

  • These boys were clearly trying to change their sound. They were sooo successful in the early days. I really love this song though. Reminds me of Tabitha Twitchit.

Can't believe I have never heard this before.

Can this be found on a CD somewhere?

  • Agree, they were way ahead of their time. So sad Mike died the week before DC5 was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. He left us too soon.

Saw them in Columbus, Ohio. Many memories.

  • @aabbaaccddee When Mike passed I was heartsick because I wanted so much to see him there, especially with his physical problems and I know he would have been there...I really felt as though I had lost a family member as so much of the fun of my youth was spent listening to British Invasion music.

  • Of all the silly DC5 miming moments, I think the daftest was the insistance that Denny Payton mime on his sax as if was a full horn section (see also Red Balloon, You Got What It Takes). Mike Smith was such a great singer, yet by this time they were completely devoid of any musical credibility

  • Love this song; love Mike Smith. The DC5 were way ahead of their time and Mike Smith's voice is timeless.

If this comment finds its way to his lovely wife, I want her to know how wonderful she was for all she did for her beloved husband. I too lost a loved one to the complications of that unspeakable injury.

  • My first DC5 single was Good Old Rock n Roll...anyonr out there got a clip? Also any DC & Friends tracks...like Sweet City Woman or Rub It In?

  • @Canpac462 All the videos of DC & F on Top of the Pops were re-recorded on years ago by the stupid BBC!

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I suppose it is difficult to change a "winning formula" and DC5 were far away from psychedelic music when they were at best.....

  • Somewhere I read that DC5 had difficulties in finding their style during the psychedelic era?

  • Do you really have to ask that question after watching this video?

  • Here comes summer is a good song!

  • This was the second 'Mulberry' song by the DC5...in 1963 they recorded a very catchy song called 'Mulberry Bush', can someone post that one? Also, someone needs to post their nice ballad from 1967 called 'Red and Blue'

  • Mike Smith thinks he's Tom Jones here.

The DC5 evolved into a Tom Jones wannabee cover band while the Beatles were making the "White Album" and "Abbey Road"

  • i remember this as my first love's favorite song.

  • I liked this but sadly the boys sorta wimped out after 1969..still my fave group of all time and fave lead singer, Mike Smith whom I met twice in 2003..he was a very nice man and is greatly missed!

  • DC5 didn't wimp out in 1969 in the UK, they had a massive hit in 1970 with "Everybody Get Together" and More Good old Rock and Roll" and "Here comes summer". Get hold of the "Dave Clark and Friends" album and listen to the production and drumming, FAB!!

  • which group did rick huxley play in after dc5 disbanded?

  • to ansa my own question... the barron knights in 1971
